About 6 years ago my wife caught a real nice 13 lb channel cat. I put it on the stringer (one of those metal clip kind) and tossed it in the lake. It hit a rock and opened the metal clip, releasing her big ol' catfish back into the lake. She was a bit miffed, to say the least.

I ll bet, I quit takin my wife . Last time we went together she never shut up and I spent all night taking fish off of her line while I got skunked.

My boy and I lost a full stringer of crappie a few years ago. A few of the clips were doubled up w/ fish.

We were fishing off a dock and I had the minnow bucked tied to it. I then had the stringer clipped to the loop that I'd tied for the minnow bucket.
When we had our limit (10) and went to leave, I wasn't thinking and untied the minnow bucket and the stringer of fish slid off the rope into the water. All we could do was watch it sink.

I put a treble hook on my line and dragged the bottom for a few minutes hoping to snag it, but no luck.

I felt bad for the boy because he was proud of the stringer and wanted to take them home and eat them.
