If you say so. They probably said "both sides were hand checking, no foul". Depending on where the penalty occurs, one official overrules others all the time. The only issue here was announcing it too soon. If Pete doesnt' do that, then everyone here is looking at a different play to bitch about

The refs themselves said the flag was pulled because one ref said the contact was minimal and didn't rise to PI, not because they nullified both. They appear to not have seen contact with the face mask just as they failed to catch the holding on his shirt on the way out. Given their explanation the flag shouldn't have been picked up. They blew it all over.

This is nothing new. Missed the face mask? Refs miss more than they catch on most every play. You can find contact on most passing plays and holding almost every down if you are looking for it.

And everyone agrees it was poor handling. The bitches among us are trying to point to that as the sole reason Dallas won, and they are the ones getting laughed at.

It didn't cost them the game, but it was a game changing event that was unfortunate. Those things happen in close games far too often, but great teams have to be able to rise above it. The Lions didn't and lost. I'd be far more sympathetic if it had happened on the final play or very close to the end. Having it come with like 8 mins to go and still having the lead after it doesn't equal blame for loss IMO.

I just love how EVERY fan that doesn't like Dallas is lumped together. We can't have opinions without it being labeled as 'crying'. Not allowed to share our views without it being listed as hate or fear of future match ups. Nevermind that we comment on other games and controversies as that's what people on boards do, no, this is entirely because of that other nonsense.

And those were legit fouls against the Detroit defenders that absolutely should have been called. As were the Hitchens fouls.

You forgot to mention, this occurs AFTER Hitchens grabs Pettigrew's jersey. As stated, it's at worst, offsetting penalties and 3rd-and-1. And if you throw the flag on Dez Bryant for unsportsmanlike conduct, it's Lions first-and-ten at the Dallas 35.

While I must agree with pretty much everything you posted, he did say: "The bitches among us are trying to point to that as the sole reason Dallas won". He didn't say EVERYONE that doesn't like Dallas, but you have to admit the two groups have a lot of common members on the topic. It's disingenuous when some people state they don't care that it benefited Dallas, that they only care for what's best for the league, or when they state that it was the only reason Dallas won the game. Yeah, Dallas lucked out on that one play and it sure was a big one, but now it's as if it was the only play in the game.

While I personally wouldn't have picked up the flag I don't think it was as blatant as some are now making it out to be. Shame on the refs for how they handled it. They took a play that happens multiple times a game and put it on a platter for silly people that now want to say the refs were cheating for Dallas or saying that one play solely determined the outcome of the game. When has a ref ever made that call before speaking with everyone that may have had a say in the matter and when has a linesman not come running over immediately to give his opinion if he didn't agree with the call?

Get a clue!! The defensive holding took place before anything. Completely pulled and stretched the jersey. That call wasn't made.

Call defensive holding and offensive PI if you want and guess what, the Lions still should have had first and 10 at the 26 yard yard. It's as plain as day in the rulebook on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for Bryant rushing onto the field without a helmet to confront the ref on a call. Could not be an easier call to make right there. Inexcusable that it wasn't. NFL should be ashamed.

This one stinks bad, Cowboys fans want to try and justify a win that ranks right up there with Seahawks/Packers debacle. The end of the story is that the Cowboys will play next week and the Lions won't. The win is tarnished and then some thanks to officiating that was simply beyond horrible.

It is pretty hysterical. There was a holding call on Witten that brought back a TD and running into the punter call that was very questionable.

I don't remember the Witten hold but the running into the punter was not at all questionable. Watkins slid underneath the punter's land leg. That gets called every time.
