This is as bad as the league has probably ever been. Only year that I can think of that might be worse is 2004-2005. But even then there weren't this many bad teams in the league at that time.

A Indiana team that got destroyed by IPFW and Indiana State is in line to finish top 5 in the conference......that says it all.

It's also a team with only two guys averaging double figures and 1 of them is barely over 15 per game

They shoot 31% from 3.

Sad year for the Big10

These Michigan-Purdue games have been very entertaining. This Michigan team can be a lot of fun to watch when they're clicking. Purdue's really fucking good though.

Penn State knocks off Ohio State in Columbus. Weird result.

Looking through the Big Ten bubble teams, and man, there's a very real chance that the Big Ten only gets four teams in the dance.

There's really only 2 teams that have set themselves up to make it and that's Nebraska and MD. Take a look at Nebraska's remaining schedule and there's a chance they could win out, or lose all three road games to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. Honestly neither result would surprise me. And even if they did win out the rest of the regular season they would finish with a grand total of ONE top 50 win.

Also, Ohio State isn't a very good team when Bates-Diop goes to the bench. He was in foul trouble when PSU built that lead and he almost brought them back when he came in. Honestly Holtmann probably shouldn't have sat him that long.

haha, I actually did the research as soon as I saw Penn State beat Ohio State. I hadn't researched PSU previously, so them beating Ohio State opened my eyes a bit. Penn State is further away from being on the right side of the bubble than I thought. I don't even consider them a bubble team, as of right now.

Maryland is going to have to man up and beat one of the top Big Ten teams at home. They have a good win over Butler, that's it. They need at least two more wins against Top 50 opponents, meaning they are going to need win two against Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue. Might need to do a little work in the Big Ten tournament as well. The Indiana loss hurt them, because that was their first bad loss of the season.

Nebraska's schedule is going to kill them. They don't play any of the top Big Ten teams to close out the season, so their chances of grabbing another top 50 win are slim. Best chance they have is for Maryland to get hot and slide into the top 50. They currently have one top 50 win, and that isn't close to being good enough.

If MSU loses to Purdue and then one of Purdue/OSU/Michigan in the B1GT then yes. lol. They would be 28-5 at that point with one top 50 win, so pathetic.

haha, this is pretty amazing. Unless Maryland gets hot and slides into the top 50, Michigan State's only remaining game against a top 50 opponent is Purdue. If they lose to Purdue, they'll finish the regular season with only 1 top 50 win. Best thing about Michigan State's resume, outside of the UNC win, is that they don't have any bad losses. Maryland and Nebraska can't say that, but man, what an ugly year for a major conference.

Minnesota's off the court troubles really hurt the Big Ten this year.

If that happens, I wonder what the committee will do with them. Talking from a seeding perspective, b/c they will obviously be in the NCAAT.

What they SHOULD do is a 6 or 7. What they WILL do is a 2 or 3

If Purdue runs the table in the regular season, and the B1GT, nobody is going to have a good resume outside of Purdue. Michigan would finish with either 2/3 top 50 wins, Ohio State the same, and Michigan State with 1/2. It's honestly the worst I can remember a P6 conference ever being. It all comes back to the B1G being atrocious outside of the league, outside of Purdue. Not only did the conference not win a lot of marquee games, the conference for the most part played atrocious schedules to compact the problem.

Penn State has no shot. I'd agree with your assessment on MD, problem is I don't think they'll beat MSU, Purdue or Michigan(they might get Michigan).

If Nebraska wins out, they'll be 23-8 with an RPI in the low 40's(heading into B1GT). Very similar RPI and wins as UT-Arlington last year and they didn't get in. I do think they need to win out to have even a shot.

There's not much precedence for that type of resume coming from a high major school. UCLA was similar to what that projected record would be as far as RPI, but they had 6 top 50 wins. They were a 3 seed. St. Mary's was similar in record and RPI and would actually have 1 more top 50 win and they were a 7 seed. My guess is they give a program like Michigan State the benefit of the doubt(even though I would have it) and seed them on the 4/5 line.
