Nebraska 74, No. 7 Iowa State 69, Feb. 22, 1997. Last #Huskers win on the road against a Top 10 team.

there is a 99% chance that the Big10 has zero Top 10 teams come tomorrow

Anyone see this coming?

Minnesota looks like they'll hold on but Northwestern had a chance to win this and improve to 13-13 overall. Anybody can win these games.

I will say, after recent play Iowa and Wisconsin could be deadly with their bigs. Michigan State may still be the best team in the conference but the B1G Tourney is wide open for anyone to win.

Nope. Makes for more exciting basketball however.

Agree, certainly did not see Michigans mini downside although I still love that team, last year you guys had talent all over the floor, hated losing to you in the FF but I always root for you guys unless it messes Cuse up! Big10 basketball is a conference I love watching, of course I loved the big east more but that's gone, still getting use to the ACC but Cuse made it easy for me this year.

Gophers definitely needed that win. Keeping the tourney bid alive.

Minnesota won at Northwestern (54-48) in spite of 17 turnovers.

All 3 road teams won today.

Things could still break right for the B1G to receive 7 bids. If I had to give odds, I'd say Nebraska is slightly more likely to make it than Minnesota. I think ultimately both will have to avoid losses in the 1st round of the B1G tournament. I really think Nebraska could finish 11-7 in conference. Do that and I can't see how they get left out. Gophers need to beat Illinois and PSU(both at home) to get to 8 wins, which MIGHT be enough, assuming they beat the #10 seed in the first round of the B1G Tournament. 9-9 in league play leaves no question they are getting in.

Either way, the conference tournament should be awesome.

I'm going to keep an eye on how far Nebraska jumps in the RPI.

Coming into today:

ESPN has them at #65
CBS Sports has them at #68

May very well sneak into the top 50 based off of this win.

Yea, before today I felt like if we could win this game we could jump somewhere into the 40's in RPI.

I saw some projections that have us at 52.

Either way, I'm just happy. If it ends up coming down to a question of whether or not Nebraska can win away from home against good competition, at least we have something to hang our hats on.

It really doesn't get much better for any team in the country than to get a win on the road at East Lansing.

well, ain't this a kettle of fish?

both Michigan teams prove accommodating hosts by letting their guests shit on the furniture...
the Ohio team fails to impress anybody other than ESPiN's Dan Dickitch...
Iowa and Wisconsin are laying bricks, not shooting them...
Goldy is riding the razor, keeping hopes alive...and
Cornhusker puppies are slobbering all over themselves dreaming sweet impossible dreams.
(the other five would at least like to NIT, but may be disappointed there too.)

season's been pretty fuckn chaotic from start to finish, eh? the tourney will tell - for two (MINN & NEB) but, imo, means jack squat for the B1G's solid dancers (MSU, UM, WIS, IOWA & OSU)...at this point, I think it's entirely possible that any of the first four could cut net in Arlington.

go B1G!
go green!

Yeah pretty crazy, but rankings are a joke anyway. When Kentucky (18-5) and Duke (19-5) are ranked 7 and 13 spots ahead of Wisconsin (19-5) last week despite the comparable or equal record along with Wisconsin's superior SOS, you can't really use the AP or Coaches as a legitimate ranking of the best teams.

That win by Nebraska over MSU was sure a surprise to me and as mentioned above; as many as 7 Big10 teams could go to the NCAA tournament. After watching Wisconsin yesterday dismantle Michigan, for me, have to think that Wisconsin has found something and is ready for a good run. It would not surprise me to see Wisconsin go through the Big10 tournament winning by some big numbers; and could be a final 4 team. As mentioned, rankings do very little to describe some of the talent out there. Easy schedules provide teams an opportunity to rest players. I know Florida has been able to rest some guys and now is very healthy. We went into Lexington the other day with all people ready to play. Not sure I'm a believer in Wichata St. Could that team go 26-0 in the Big10??? Don't think so...and they will be getting a NR1 seed; possibly THE NR 1 seed. At any rate; the NCAA is were it's at. Consider Michigan last year. Not sure anyone outside of the Big10 even knew who Mich McGary is. For me, the number of teams from a conference that makes the sweet 16 is an indication as to the depth of that conference.
