i agree with that. seems like he is done with that portion of his hiring.

what i don't get is, if he's retaining any staff from Bo, why hasn't that been announced? I would have interviewed those guys the first day and tried to make a decision on that, so i could move them ahead with recruiting. I guess he could have bigger targets in mind and are waiting on them to make decisions, so i guess that would be nice if they are big name guys. I think the longer announcements take, the more likely they are coaching somewhere else, either NFL or other big name colleges. although the only big name colleges that you might not get right away are those playing for the NC, Bama, OSU, Oregon, and FSU. I'd think a coach from any other staff would make the jump now.

With the recruiting dead period starting this Sunday, he didn't have time to interview anyone. He basically had to hit the road and salvage this recruiting class, and he'll deal with staffing after this weekend.

I would be fine with Orgeron at Nebraska.

It's not going to happen though because we all opened our mouths about it.

Fans don't know who the best hire is.

I'd rather stay classy. We'll still win.

The fact that Banker has been with Riley for so long is a huge plus. Banker is a good DC in my OP, just never had a complete talent pool to draw from, much like Riley on the offensive side. Braska is a whole different football program than mine is/was. Banker base D at State consisted of a 3-4 and zone in the rear. It is all Banker had to work with. Pac12 offenses tore thru his zone base D while his D-line was ineffective at best over the last two years with little pressure given on opposing offenses QBs. I see Braska talent pool as a endless supply of what your new coaches will require to be consistent winners of your conference and beyond. Always hard to compare OSU to Nebraska, totally different and at this point hard to measure. IF I am right and Banker is successful with your defense, all kinds of schools will be knocking your doors down to get him as a HC. He has that much experience. Banker knows how to scheme different offenses. Riley and Banker took the Beavers as far as they could with what they had.

BTW...

I love reading this thread...Braska fans are knowledgeable and passionate..same thing your new coaches are. Give em chance to deliver.

Yes I really am wondering.

I'm getting the vibe that Riley is ready to ditch the West Coast Offense and move to something that suits our current players more.

hmmmmm

Like he said he would in his presser?

Is that the vibe you're getting?

He never said that in his presser.

He simply said he isn't completely bound to the West Coast Offense.

Transcript: Mike Riley talks with reporters | Huskers - KETV Home

On if he plans to bring his pro-style offense to Nebraska or if he will evaluate players first

"I think that we've kind of run a smorgasbord of offense, but I guess people call it a pro-style because we huddle and have gone underneath the center a few times actually. But we set a lot of times through the years in the shotgun. I'm kind of very interested according to the ability of the players to morph into a little bit more of what we might can do. I'm excited and have been looking at that for a bit. We certainly have to establish an identity and the identity has to be a blend of a system of what the players are comfortable with and good at. I think that's coaching. You take your talent and you make sure it's the right fit for the system. Then you adapt that system as best you can to the team.

Pretty sure he said he'll adapt the system to fit the players.

But if you want to make it your own personal 'vibe' help yourself.

Or maybe the fact that the back ups would start at almost any other school in the nation? Being a great recruiter, and/or signing great recruits, will make your coaching look a lot better than it may actually be.

Let me add this, I am not trying to downplay what has happened at tOSU this year. Incredible, however it was achieved.

You have truly lost your marbles.

Eichorst and Alvarez.

They're up to some crazy shit I tell ye.

What if....Alvarez sent Eichorst here to fix us, and he stayed at Wisconsin to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike and sabotage the Badgers program, thus leaving his alma mater with an open road to get back to former glory?

:omg:

Thanks for the answer. I'm still in the wait and see mode on him though.
