I think Michigan would bring more viewers, but I did think of Gonzaga. They'd definitely be 2nd out of that region. I still think the combo of Michigan/Oregon would be better than say Gonzaga/Tennessee.

I get that Michigan has a massive fanbase, but Gonzaga/Duke rematch would be a ratings dream. Then if they somehow had a Duke/UNC final...

Not a Duke-Gonzaga rematch?

Both of those teams have bigger fanbases to be sure, I wonder if the casual viewer would be drawn to a midmajor like Gonzaga going up against the power conference schools.

Only 1 seed under 10 made it to the Sweet 16. Been a chalk-heavy tourney so far, be interesting to see what happens with the rest of the tourney.

It's a tough call for sure. UNC/Gonzaga was a much higher rated game than Nova/Michigan was but how much of that was UNC and how much was that being on CBS as opposed to Nova/Michigan being on TNT/TBS. I know we are pretty far removed from it, but there is a little bit of a history with Duke/Michigan.

in order for this great country to live up to its god given potential, we need a final four that consists of FSU, Duke, UNC and Virginia

it is the only way
Holy conference nut swinging Batman!

Like I said above it is a tough call. I am willing to admit I could be wrong here. Was just laying out why I leaned the way I did.

Michigan and Big Ten > the idea of a Gonzaga vs Duke rematch

you're right on this one

Duke/UNC would be an absolute ratings bonanza. no other matchup comes close

Same.

I'm wondering what grouping of FF teams would have the best rating? My guess would be Duke/Michigan/Oregon/UNC?

I say Oregon because it might bring the west coast audience and nobody else in the south has much drawing power.

I think you're probably right, although I think UK would be close.

Hey, I just got an awesome idea: what if we have a final four without Duke or UNC?!?

the last time the Road to the FF went through SC, UNC were national champs

want to keep UNC and Duke from the FF? stop putting the tournament in SC

Duke/Kentucky would surpass I think.

Nobody except for the most hardcore fans are aware that they've never met, so I think that game would hold more intrigue for casual/non-fans.

not a chance. there isn't anything in CBB that outdraws UNC/Duke. it's been proven year after year.

That's in the regular season though.

Casual fans want intrigue.

As a causal college football fan, I'm much more interested in Alabama-Oklahoma rather than Alabama-Georgia, or Alabama-LSU.

Alabama/UGA isn't the biggest rivalry in college football, though. heck, Alabama/UGA isn't even a rivalry.

and UGA/Alabama outdrew all three editions of Clemson vs Alabama

Ohio State/Oregon was a ratings monster, but i'd be willing to bet that was b/c it was the first year of the playoffs.

and there isn't intrigue about Duke/UNC in the NCAAT for the first time ever? It's also not like that North Carolina and Kentucky are two states that are located in entirely different parts of the country.
