I like the Spurs bigs. But how does the defense work. Obviously Duncan at center, is he used to going 30 minutes against some big centers, more wear and tear. Not sure how Aldridge is on defense, especially with the guys who spread the floor like Love. They need to get Diaw, that would be huge for them.

Aldridge is not great guarding out on the perimeter.

But, he's not a slug on defense.

I think the Cavs would have to put Thompson on Aldridge because LA would eat Kevin up in the post.

I can't wait to see these 2 Teams play.

It will be like watching the allstar game...lol

I'm still a bit shell-shocked about my team going into the toilet so I refuse to think this hard....

But, how many players on these 2 rosters are current or former Allstars?

Gotta be 8 or 9, right?

They already have Diaw. What is this idea of "needing to get Diaw".

The Spurs control him until 2018 if they want him.

i said it before and il say it again

I think the Lkaers missed an opportunity with the Stuaskas trade----- they couldve offered to take less than the 76'ers did- still got a pick and Stauskas for taking on 2 years of Thompson at 6.5 and Landry at 6.5---

instead using their cap space on brandon bass who is ancient, and a ball-dominant iso playe like Williams- when they already have Kobe and Russell----- not too mention Young....does not make sense to me

Depending on who else the Cavs get. They only have 4 all-stars counting Varajeo.
The Spurs have 5 I believe with West. So 8, as we speak.

Only if he misses a free throw!

How do you like the Lakers signings?

I think they need to trade a guard.

But, Lou and Bass are really solid pickups.

If Kobe is healthy and Hibbert is not in the fetal position, your team will be fun to watch.

Unimpressed really. I think Lou was a nice pick-up, assuming they can somehow trade Swaggy away. Kind of redundant having both of them. Maybe Swaggy gets worked into a 3-team with Dallas and Indiana. Hibbert will help tremendously on defense. Bass is solid.

I'm all about seeing how the youngsters look and develop this season. I'm really excited to what Russell and Randle can do. That's really the future on the team. I know people are banging on the Lakers for the players they haven't been able to sign. They may well already have their future stars, but just need some time and development. Russell is smooth.

I know one thing for sure and that's this season will be a heck of a lot more fun than last season.

Brandon Bass is 30, and is younger than Lebron. Once again, fail.

They are trying to trade Young. Byron doesn't really care for him, and you are right about the redundancy.

I'm not sure they had an opportunity to get Stauskas.

I love DeAngelo....He was the right pick.

I hate ya'll.

But, I hated to see Randle go down like that last year..so, I'm hoping he has a great year.

Right after the draft I saw a quote by Clarkson suggesting that he would start at SG and Kobe at SF.

Do you think that's the plan?

PS. I think Hibbert will be fine with a change of scenery.

He was playing great up until the time Indy brought Bynum in.

He needs to get mentally stronger. But, he can play good defense when his head is right.

If not, he's off the books next Summer.

It all matters about players that fit the system. Aldridge, from what we've seen the Spurs roll out on offense the last few years - is a perfect fit. I don't see where this 4th all-star is on Cleveland....please help me. If that 4th is Joe Johnson, then you're a few years removed from him being an all-star player.

Maybe... just maybe Williams might come off the bench?!?

I know it's a silly notion but hey! Perhaps they should be giving near max contracts to bench players instead? :rolleyes2:

False. Many thought Randle skill-wise was pretty damn good.
WRONG.

I thought Randle was pretty good too--- but he was never in consideration to be a top 3 pick- the consensus top picks were Wiggins, Parker and Embiid- those 3 were going in the top 3

Randle was in the next tier with Exum, Smart, Vonleh, Gordon---- he ended up going after Gordon, Exum, and Smart obviously---- I thought he was good value at #7 but he was never in contention to be a top 3 pick in that draft- let alone a top 2 pick.

But, Lou is a step up from Young....imo

Bass is solid.

I understand your point of view, but, I dissagree.

No Stars wanted to take their money.

So, they went out and got some solid role players that will compete hard, while not mucking up their Cap Space next Summer.

Would they have been better off taking the Sacto trade?...probably.

But, after trying to steal Cousins..what makes you think the Kings even offered?

I would like to see a starting lineup of:

PG: Russell
SG: Clarkson
SF: Bryant
PF: Randle
C: Hibbert

I don't know though when I see them sign a player like Bass. Perhaps they want to bring Randle off the bench. Doesn't make sense to me. Let the youth play in my opinion.

I believe Hibbert anchored the top defense two seasons ago. He's still an elite rim protector, something the Lakers desperately need. That will also help the perimeter defense knowing the middle is secure. Definitely a low risk move that could turn out really positive.

please explain to me how those signings make sense for the Lakers....

Those signings do nothing but take them from being a team that wins low twenties to a team that wins high twenties which hugely decreases the chances they keep their draft pick which is top 3 protected- while not getting them even CLOSE to the playoffs.

I just dont see how those signings help the Lakers going forward other than to win a couple extra games this season.

Again- if you would like to explain to me how those signings were intelligent- go ahead- so far you have said nothing.

As I said, the foot issues scared some teams. He'll be better than a couple that went ahead of him.

I just dont see how it helps them winning an extra hand full of games by tying their money into after-thought role players.

The worst place to be in the NBA is the middle- ESPECIALLY when that means you are going to have to forfeit your draft pick.

The best thing to come out of the Lakers missing out on the major free agents in my onion was the fact that they could possibly keep their pick.

Now?

They win an extra hand full of games and lose their pick but still come no where close to making the playoffs- and still did not sign a player who would be expected to start on a contender.
