"Spoelstra is making excuses because of the Cavs dominance of the Heat. If Wade wasn't so old and injured, Spoeslstra was a great coach like Blatt and Arison was as rich and unwilling to let money prevent him from signing key players like Dan Gilbert, then Lebron would never have left and the Heat wouldn't suck." - Wiggy

Or something along those lines only using many, many more words.

Hey, TJ12....you look different. Almost didn't recognize you. Did you get your hair cut?

I think we both know one poster that will certainly help as long as the subject is Kyrie and the Cavs. :heh:

I'm pretty sure if the Cavs were willing to give him 17 million annually that he could have gotten 85 over 5 but he insisted on getting 94 mill

My initial impression is that TT won the holdout battle. He gets his $17 mill a year. I guess the positive for the Cavs is they aren't hamstrung by a longer 5-yr deal at that amount.

The contract will be moveable by next year, IMO, with it expiring so soon, so at least there's some flexibility built in for the Cavs.

Obviously a lot of money for a bench player... hope TT's effort level remains where its been despite getting paid.

Or, he thought about being committed to a team for 5 years when the best player will only be committed for the next 2. They do share the same agent, yes?

Won what? He was asking for 94 million over 5 which is nearly 19 million per year. I'm pretty sure the Cavs would have gave him 5 over 85 which is 17 million yearly so basically by taking less years and being a bitch about wanting a max, he just missed out on 32 million

Yeah, I hear you. I guess it depends on how true a lot of the rumors were. I never really believed he'd get more than 18 and was hoping the Cavs could get him for 14-15. So I guess, from that context, I see him as a winner.

I agree, though, I don't know why he wouldn't take the longer contract. I like the 3 year contract for the Cavs flexibility... but TT was dumb to not take 5 yr.... IF it was on the table at $17 mill/yr.

Again... its hard to say when we don't really know what was actually offered / rejected, etc.

Bottom line... he's getting paid very well for his role.

He's a winner for the fact that he's going to be paid more than what he's really worth.

I thought I saw a 5yr/$80mil offer earlier today. A little more in the short-term over a little longer security. Interesting decision. That's good money for a rebounder off the bench.
