the Cavs?

scarred of a Heat team that plays EXACLTY into the Cavs strengths? a Heat team that was WORSE than a Boston team that traded away their best players? THEN THE NETS!? LOL

Again, I dont know how many times I have to write this.

The Heat cant shoot from the outside - in a league where its become increasingly important to be able to shoot from the outside

The Heat are at BEST average defensively- and poor defensively in the back court to say the least

The Heat have one guy that is better than an average rebounder- Whiteside- a guy that has played 4 months in the NBA and has proven he is a hot head- that got suspended and fined last year because of being a hothead- and was called out by his teammates and coach for being a hothead.

YOU COMPARE THAT TO THE CAVS? Did you SEE how well the Cavs played after they made their deals and their addition by subtraction on Waiters and getting Smith/Shump/Mozzy? The Cavs played the best ball in the league from January on- while the Heat played like SHIT from then on.

The Heat have a long way to go to prove that they are anything more than an expensive team of a lot of names on paper.

that article made a great point on whiteside and dragic pick and roll too- JUST CRASH THE INSIDE!!! NO ONE ON MIAMI CAN SHOOT A 3! Do you know how easy it is to defend a team in todays NBA that cant spread the floor and has no true post up option?! HA.

that GREAT thing is- that the season will be upon us before long- and I will be proven correct- and will GREATLY enjoy watching all the crow being eaten

Nothing but fear in this post. Fear is the only reason to obsess over a team while claiming they have no shot against your team. You're trying to convince yourself.

You continue to make the critical mistake of bringing up irrelevant issues from last year when the heat 4 best players never played in a single game together.

Miami is not a great 3 pt shooting team but they can be middle of the road. Dragic and Green are about 35 or 36% 3 pt shooters and in limited games last year, Josh shot 42% from 3. Much different than having Napier, Ennis, & walker shooting 3s

We shot 33% from 3 last year which ranked 24th. This year i think we'll be around 35% which would be just outside the top 10

well the great thing is we shall see in a few short months.

at that time- when i am proven right- I will have a few of these posts saved just to make sure you guys realize how wrong you were and how right I was.

That will be fun.

Should be a good season!

To me its just not even a question to be honest. Once the Cavs made their deals last year they played like the best team in basketball. Even if Miami is SIGNIFICANTLY improved over the team that finished 10th in the East that is still not near enough to contend with the level of play the Cavs exhibited. Not only that- but while all the Miami Lemmings point to how their team will get better with continuity- no where does that apply more than the Cavs!

It will be a fun fun season. CANT WAIT.

the 4 teams in the Conference Finals last year?

All 4 were in the top 7 in Three pointers attempted last year

1. Houston
2. Cleveland
4. GSW
7. Atlanta

3 Pt Percentage Made

1. Golden State
2. Atlanta
5. Cleveland
14. Houston

The Clippers and Spurs were 3 and 6 respectively.

That is some extremely strong correlative evidence demonstrating a teams 3 pt shooting prowess is strongly tied to its success.

16 teams make the NBA PLAYOFFS.

Boston, Brooklyn and Memphis were the only teams in the league to make the playoffs while not shooting in the top half of the league 3 pt wise. ---and of course Boston and Brooklyn eeked in at the bottom of the East- and Memphis is built around its front court and defense and is an obvious outlier.

If teams think they can win in today's NBA without shooting three's at a solid rate, and shooting a decent amount of them- they have not been paying attention.

As far as I can tell Miami does not have one player who is known as a knock-down 3 pt shooter on their entire roster- while the best teams have MULTIPLE guys that can shoot.

this is the shit that cracks me up. To have the audacity to list Josh McRoberts shooting percentage. ITs not even the number of games that makes me shake my head at this abject stupidity- its the fact that he shot about 1 three a game. That makes it totally and 100% completely irrelevant.

No one one the Heat team has demonstrated a consistent ability to hit 3's at a high percentage and a high usage. Honestly- the closest one I see is freaking Bosh. lol.

I'll say it again. If you don't think the Heat will improved 3 point shooting with a 37% career shooter in Green, a full season with Dragic who's 36% from 3, & McBob who 36 & 42% from 3 in his last 2 seasons you're a clown

Dragic shot less than 33% with the Heat last year- and has only had one season in his career where he was a materially solid three point shooter.

Please dude- like last year when MCRoberts played 20 games and shot 1.1 3 a game (he took 19 3's last year! what a sample size! ha)? You are saying that him shooting 3's at that rate is going to have ANY impact whatsoever over the course of a season? Especially when you consider that for his career he is a subpar 3 pt shooter?

From what I see- Shawne Williams actually was a decent 3 pt shooter when he got PT- both volume wise and % wise- but hes gone.

Deng will regress next year- as his .355% was significantly higher than his career numbers of 33%.

if you would like to make another bet regarding how the Heat shoot the 3 for the season I will GLADLY make that bet with you. I will be you they do not finish in the top half of the league. If you are so sure of improvement that should be a bet you EASILY take.

The Cavs on the other hand...holy crap....the 3pt shooting

Kyrie
JR
Delly
Mo
Love

even LeBron over the last 4 or so years has proved to be a very solid 3 pt shooter on the average and really stepped up that part of his game.

HUGE ADVANTAGE RIGHT THERE

though the advantage in rebounding personnel between the two teams is even more starkly in favor of the Cavs.

Yeah Deng will regress now that he will get MORE open shots now with Whiteside, Bosh, Dragic, & Wade all being on the court the same time as he is.....totally makes sense.

Dragic % won't improved now that he will get more open looks with the return of Bosh..........totally makes sense

are you actually trying to say you think the Heat will be even an AVERAGE team at shooting the 3?

If thats what you are saying- lets make a bet on it.

I think they will finish in the bottom half of the league for 3 pt %- as they do not have one guy who is a consistent- year after year- good 3 pt shooter. Not one guy on the entire team is a specialist type or real floor spacer the defense has to respect.

When GERALD GREEN is your best hope to have a floor spacer in today's NBA- you are in some shit. LOL.

Impossible for a team to boost up 2% or so with clearly better shooters and more floor spacing with this roster but yeah I'm the dumb one. Such an incredible task for a team with a better roster/better shooters to go from .335% from 3 to .352 or so.....that was the difference between 10th and 24th last year. Damn near nothing

Go fuck yourself

Never said they have a specialist. You don't need a specialist to be a solid 3 pt shooting team. The only specialist on Cleveland team is JR. None of the other are considered 3 pt specialist.

All I am saying is the Heat half to be i nthe top half of the league--- not top quarter, not top third TOP HALF--- and you win. 3point %.

If I win- the first 2 rounds of the playoffs i get to pick your avatar- if you win- the opposite....

I would so enjoy watching a Cavs/Heat second round series while you are rocking an Avatar of Kyrie Irving breaking the ankles of some Heat player while watching a nabsolute decimation of the Heat on the court.

Cavs Rockets Warriors Hawks

the 4 conference Final teams

Kyrie Irving over 40% from 3 (with significant volume)
Delly over 40% from 3
Jr with the Cavs over 38% from 3 (with significant volume)
Kevin Love just below 37% from 3 (with significant volume)
DeMarre Carrol 40% from 3 (with significant volume)
Kyle Korver 45% from 3 (with significant volume)
Steph Curry 44% from 3 (with insane volume)
Klay Thompson 43% from 3 (with sigificant volume)
H Barnees 40% from 3
Harden 38% from 3 (with insane volume)
Trevor Ariza 35% from 3- (with HUGE volume)
Jason Terry- 39% from 3
Patrick Beverely 36% from 3

The Heat?

The Heat have Gerald Green - who shot about 5 threes a game and hit about 37% - and after that- really not shit.

If you think they can simply be TOP 16 take the bet man- thats a pretty low standard from how you are acting.

*actually- damn kinda surprised Bosh took almost 4 threes a game and shot 38%- thats not bad....maybe he Is turning into the leagues tallest shooting guard! lol.

I agree with pretty much all of this. On paper, the Cavs are the better team. Problem is, they make teams play the games on the court, not on paper.

The Heat team that played back to back finals series vs. the Spurs were, on paper, far better than than those Spurs teams. Yet, if not for a miracle comeback in game 6 of the 1st series, they would have lost both series.

Things happen over the course of a long season and a potential 7 game playoff series. As well as the Cavs played after the all-star break, they still have question marks. Can Love and Kyrie stay healthy? Can JR Smith behave himself and not be a locker room problem for a 2nd season? Even if he does, will he slip into bonehead mode like he did in the finals and hurt the team? Is this the season that all of the mileage on Lebron's body starts to catch up to him?

If I were a Cavs fan, I'd be a lot more concerned about those questions than about anything the Heat are doing.

Where I disagree is with your last statement. Continuity is likely to improve the Heat more than the Cavs. The Cavs, for the most part, have at least since the all star break to have played together. The Heat's starting 5 have yet to play together.

I still remember a regular season game where Norris Cole blocked a shot by Kyrie Irving to win the game for the Heat. Good times.

I can still remember a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME where Matt Wilhem ROCKED Ken Dorsey and sent him to the sidelines and Craig Krenzel rode off into the sunset with a National Title.

REALLY GOOD TIMES! ;)
