Read another article this morning about whether or not Kobe is gonna retire after this season. What do you think? Can you see him taking on a lesser role in terms of leading the team and giving up being the #1 & #2 options on offense? :heh:

I think his decision will be almost 100% based on how healthy he can stay this season.

If he can stay healthy, then he can accept a contract / role similar to Duncan.

Yep he touched a bit on the reasoning being linked to his health. He also said he'll wait until the end of the season to make a decision either way.

God....it is so freaking dead here today. Literally the office is half empty. Have you guys gotten done as little as I have thus far today? Its so slow around here on Fridays during the summer.
It sounds like your company doesn't do very much business.

Impossible. No way in hell unless some huge debate starts next week when the schedule comes out. We are in the really dead part of the offseason. I think at this point everyone is waiting for 2 things. 1) The schedule to come out & 2) Training camp to begin

The Horns are gearing up for that roadie to South Bend.

The folks in Austin are almost ready to trade T-shirts and flipflops for well longsleeve T-shirts and flipflops..cold ass 65 degree winters.

Inbred Okies are pawning whatever crap they own in the doublewide to make sure the cable bill is paid for Saturday disappointments.

So, it's tough to keep the NBA torch burning when the greatest season of all is upon us.

Although, I do come on this board to get away from the free-for-all insanity that is CFB homerism.
NBA fans are polite and intelligent.

The CFB boards will own you and tear you apart in about 30 seconds no matter what you post.

i think he's gonna hang 'em up after this one. doesn't make a whole lot of sense imo to 1) play with any other team if he wants to be remembered as a life-long Laker 2) i'm not seeing the Buss family paying him another high priced contract...

just my :2cents: though...

I'm obviously in different discussions then, because there is a clear cut #1 IMO which is Jordan, and it's based on more then just his record in the Finals.

I will say his 6-0 def works in his favor in those conversations.

So, how many here would say James was #1 if he was currently 6-0 vs 2-4?
Is the rest of his game/resume enough to elevate him over Jordan and the rest?

If he were 6-0, I would definitely have him at least tied with MJ as GOAT. Then it would come down to MVP's, etc.

I agree. Kobe has always said that he will retire when he either can't play at a high level anymore and/or didn't have the desire to put himself through his off-season workouts to get ready for the next season. With the core of the team being so young, I think the development of the team will be a big factor as well.

If he stays healthy, plays well and feels like the team is ready to take a big step forward, then I think he'll do as you suggest and accept a Timmy type deal/role.

Spurs/Clippers was the best series of the entire Playoffs, in my opinion. Yet, I bet they don't get a Christmas Day game.

There are 5 Christmas day games. I'm pretty one if not both will play on Christmas
