Big day for Pac12 baseball...3 teams staring down 1-n-dones today. Stanford has it's hands full with Indiana @ their place in Bloomington. Cards have done well to get as far as they have. Washington has been an over-achiever all year, hope they win @ Vandy's regional. That leaves me Beavs, who have to go with the same guy on the bump that beat him 14-2 the other nite. Be it said the Anteaters have played well and have hit the ball hard against EVERY Beaver pitcher they have faced. Nail biters these double eliminations are and gawd help those who have to win via the losers brackets...3 straight wins to advance? wow

That is an interesting feature of the double elimination format. I wonder what proportion of teams needing three wins have advanced to the super regional. Definitely a tall order, that probably tends to be made more difficult by pitching staffs getting depleted.

Since my Huskers have been eliminated, I wish everyone still alive the best of luck advancing to the Super Regionals.

Miami, FL loss today ensures there will be no Florida rep in the CWS.

So the real question is, who was more overrated? The SEC or the state of Florida? SEC had 10 teams in the tourney, which was way too many in the first place and only 2 will make it to super regionals. On the other hand, FSU, UF and Miami were all #1 seeds and were all eliminated. I'll go with the SEC. I'm sure there were quite a few schools who were passed over who deserved a bid. I hate that media induced SEC bias.....

Wow, 5 Big 12 teams make the tournament and 4 make it into the Superregionals.
Texas played Houston early in the season winning 3-2.

That was ugly! Congrats to you and your Cougars TD.

Thanks, Kid V. After you guys scored two in the top of the first I was afraid that we would get blown out. Your freshman who started the game returned the favor and let us back in the game by tying it up in the bottom of the first before our big seven-run third. Heck of an exciting series between two good teams, even though the score of the game last night didn't reflect how tightly contested the entire series really was.

Things certainly worked out, but had we hosted the regional and won, would we be hosting the Super Regional? I still say that our body of work merited hosting more than did the Owls'.

9 of the 10 SEC teams made it to the regional championship games and 4 of those teams were 4 seeds in their groupings. A cowboy fan complaining about media induced bias is rich. Hate on.....

I have to think Baton Rouge (LSU) would have still gotten it. Just like Austin (Texas) got it over Houston.

Y'all just showed you could win on the road in the most difficult of environments. Getting to the CWS isn't so much about who the better teams were all season, it's about who's hot right now. I assume your fans will travel well to the Super Regional?

I suspect that there will be significantly more fans in Austin that there were in Baton Rouge. Cougar fans, particularly the older folks who went to school back in SWC days, have a strong dislike for the Horns and would love to see UH beat UT in Austin.

You make a good point about the virtue of getting hot at the right time. Hopefully the wins in Baton Rouge, coupled with winning the AAC Tourney the previous week in Clearwater, FL, have UH in the right frame of mind to win at Austin!
