This is due to a combination of things. One being that the Brewers are WAY better than a lot of the experts thought they were and the Phillies are WAY worse than a lot of the experts thought they were.
I get a laugh at these experts that are surprised the Brewers are doing well. I mean, shit, look at their lineup...
1. Carlos Gomez - All-Star Gold Glove CF last year
2. Jean Segura - All-Star SS last year
3. Ryan Braun - 2011 MVP and perennial All-Star RF
4. Aramis Ramirez - Perennial All-Star 3B
5. Jonathan Lucroy - Would be an All-Star C if the NL wasn't so loaded with good catchers. I think he might be able to make an All-Star game now that Brian McCann is in the AL.
6. Khris Davis - a young LF you're going to be hearing a lot about.
7. Mark Reynolds - Okay, nothing really that special here.
8. Scooter Gennett - A very good young 2B that is far more productive than that bum Rickie Weeks
That's a pretty damn good lineup there. Sure, it isn't as "homer heavy" as a lot of past Brewer lineups, but the hitters are better overall.
A-Ram's been to two All-Star Games, the last being in 2007. That makes him a "Perennial All-Star"?
