Same thing in the Steelers game. Drove me nuts. There was an INT at the end of the second half that was called back for "illegal hands to the face", but CBS was too busy talking amongst themselves to 1) let the audience hear who it was on from the ref, 2) announce themselves who it was on, 3) explain in any way, shape, or form the call, 4) show a replay. Sort of a big play, and most Steelers fans were unhappy to have an INT taken away...and most fans are annoyed when they can't even see if their anger was just. Shitty coverage.

Yeah, it's absolutely infuriating.

Buffalo News even picked up on it.

It wasn’t so much what Buffalo Bills fans heard from CBS announcers Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon that was aggravating during the Bills’ 24-17 loss to Denver Sunday as it was what fans didn’t see.

Harlan and Gannon had decent games, but CBS’ camera work and replays were horribly inadequate.

The camera work was almost as painful to watch as the very effective anti-smoking ads that are played frequently on the networks to the horror of some viewers.

Bills fans didn’t see several controversial calls clearly during the game, including an offensive pass interference call that negated a touchdown catch by Scott Chandler, a blocking penalty on Corey Graham during a long runback of a Bills interception, a blocking call against Kyle Williams during a long runback of an interception by Graham, and the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against linebacker Jerry Hughes during a Denver touchdown drive.

Those two calls during interception returns that they failed to show cost them a combined 76 yards - 40 on one and 36 on the other - and they didn't show a replay.

Still, the hit occurred a good 2 seconds after the receiver initially touched the ball, he just happened to be bobbling it for awhile. You can't expect a DB to simply stand and wait for a player to stop bobbling and no longer be defenseless. As much as I hate replay review and this would make the game even harder to stand, you have to start wondering if some of these calls need to be looked over. Injuries are part of the game, and while they do often occur because of irresponsible hits, there are many more that occur on clean hits. You can't punish someone for another person's injury. It's too dangerous a road to go down.

I understand what you're saying. I don't think it should have been called.

The rules specifically say though
Players in a defenseless posture are: . . .
(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself

I think had they called it defenseless receiver most people would kinda shrug and say they didn't agree but it wouldn't be a big deal. But to call it helmet-to-helmet when it clearly is not is still a problem.

Well, by definition is was a defenseless receiver then. Still, as someone I heard last night said, can a guy just bobble the ball the whole way down the sideline then?

no I dont think so ... he's (and his management team of A&F bro's are) too smart about these things ... see the off season divorce ... all business lol

He's basically the NFL's Derek Jeter ... I wonder if he gives out gift baskets

I mean, he's not going to get in trouble with the NFL, that's silly. My point was more his image, etc. I do admit that there was something about him that seemed not genuine, but that could be the fact that he doesn't seem to display emotion well. But the off season divorce certainly makes a bit more sense now. When it comes down to it, winners can do whatever they want to their image and they'll still sell jerseys. Certainly, if true, I lose some respect for the guy.

Maybe he's smart in how he goes about things(makes him look douchey from a fan perspective though) and he's what they call a "smooth operator"

naw ... like i said ... the unwashed masses will see him as the NFL's derek jeter ... men want to be him and women want to be with him lol

i posted about the divorce before ... wilsons pr team managed to spin it as him being smart enough to move on before the big long term contract ... and floated out that the ex cheated on him
