Here's what's amazing.....

Looking at the last 4 recruiting classes leading up to this season, Alabama has recruited 16 OL at an average of 3.5 stars........Nebraska has recruited 13 OL at an average of 3.46 stars.....

One would think that having damn near the same amount of talent would yield damn near the same type of results.......

However, it is plain to see to anyone who knows anything about football, that one of these Offensive Lines is not like the other.

Alabama's Coaching is just that good.

JJM you need to remember that we've had 2 of our top prospects including our best leave the program.

Oh, and our coaching is just that bad. Yes, it is that bad.

Our rushing attack has been decent this season, but it hasn't been do to decent Line play.........if you watch closer, it's due to misdirection and multiplicity.

Our playbook is big enough that we keep Defenses guessing, and the zone-read obviously has reeled off a bunch of nice runs for Taylor.

But you don't see our RB's hitting gaping holes straight up the gut like you do Alabama. Those holes don't exist. When we run a straight dive right up the gut, we're usually hoping Rex can carry 5 guys on his back for an extra 3 yards.

So the fact that their OL is made up of two 3*, two 4*, and a 5* means that we should be that much worse off?

I don't buy it.

Overall, I don't buy the recruiting ranking thing......

USC had like 4 years of #1 classes in a row........had like 9 straight classes in the top 10............and came out of it with 2 years of glory.....

Florida State had all these amazing classes...........aint worth shit.

Texas..........aint worth shit.

Georgia.............meh, they had like 1 really good year. This year they're pretty good.......but they sure underachieved for a good period of time with all those outstanding recruits.

There has only been 1 team that has remained consistent with their recruiting class ranking......

And that is Ohio State.

Everyone else has been up and down and all over the place.

Then this year of course they are getting a top 5 OG in Grant Hill, a top 20 tackle, and a top 10 center.

There is a significant talent gap. Stars don't tell the whole story. You only need a couple of these guys to have a great OL:

Maybe him: Cyrus Kouandjio - Yahoo! Sports

Bama has had the #1 recruiting class like 3 out of the last 5 years.

And they're about to win that many titles.

Shiiiiit......

Alabama won the title in 2010, and their Juniors, and Seniors on that team were made up from the 11th, and 10th ranked recruiting classes...

En sech.

Still though........USC, Texas, Florida State........

Another great example......

Alabama had the #1 class in 2008, the #1 class in 2009, the #5 class in 2010......

But in the 2010 season, with all that talent, they went 10-3........coming off of a National Championship season ta boot.....

Made a thread about this a while back. Put way too much effort into it. Give it a read:

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...class-averages-title-winners-compared-nu.html

Let's look at the National champs from 2004 to present and their respective recruiting classes that comprised those championship teams using rivals rankings. Rivals began ranking classes in 2002. I'll even add Nebraska's avg class ranking through the same years for comparison.

2004 National Champ: USC
Class rankings:
-'02 - 13th
-'03 - 3rd
-'04 - 1st
Avg Ranking: 5.6 Nebraska's avg: 36.6

2005 National Champ: Texas
Class rankings:
-'02 - 1st
-'03 - 15th
-'04 - 10th
-'05 - 20th
Avg Ranking: 11.5 Nebraska's avg: 28.5

2006 National Champ: Florida
Class Rankings:
-'02 - 20th
-'03 - 2nd
-'04 - 7th
'-05 - 15th
-'06 - 2nd
Avg Ranking: 9.2 Nebraska's Avg: 26.8

2007 National Champ: LSU
Class Rankings:
-'03 - 1st
-'04 - 2nd
-'05 - 22nd
-'06 - 7th
-'07 - 4th
Avg Ranking: 7.2 Nebraska's Avg: 21.4

2008 National Champ: Florida
Class Rankings:
-'04 - 7th
-'05 - 15th
-'06 - 2nd
-'07 - 1st
-'08 - 3rd
Avg Ranking: 5.6 Nebraska's Avg: 19

2009 National Champ: Alabama
Class Rankings:
-'05 - 18th
-'06 - 11th
-'07 - 10th
-'08 - 1st
-'09 - 1st
Avg Ranking: 8.2 Nebraska's Avg: 19.2

2010 National Champ: Auburn
Class Rankings:
-'06 - 10th
-'07 - 7th
-'08 - 20th
-'09 - 19th
-'10 - 4th (including Cam Newton)
Avg Ranking: 8.4 Nebraska's Avg: 22.6

2011 National Champ: Alabama
Class Rankings:
-'07 - 10th
-'08 - 1st
-'09 - 1st
-'10 - 5th
-'11 - 1st
Avg Ranking: 3.6 Nebraska's Avg: 21.6

The average ranking of the classes that made up these National Championship teams is 7.4

Nebraska's avg through these years is 24.4

The numbers speak for themselves. The odds are and have been HUGELY stacked against us winning a national title.

This years* team class avg is 24. Right on par with where we've been.

*2012

It's funny because the 2013 class is currently ranked... wait for it.... 24th in the 247 composite ranking.
