I think it was Garcia and the SP Alvarez whom they brought up to Detroit for a few spot starts when Sanchez was on the DL if I'm not mistaken. Profar was easily their first choice, but the Rangers must have ' sinned' against the Detroit FO and asked for Castellanos too lol

Detroit sinned agains the Texas FO by only offering that for Profar.

That's why no trade was made.. Detroit never gives equal value on anything including the trades they just made-- was Veras not worth much more than a single A prospect?? wasn't Iglesias worth MUCH more than Avisail Garcia?? case in point is only for this year, don't get me started on what they gave up for guys like Fister, Jackson, Scherzer, Miggy etc.

That would have been an excellent addition to your Padres rotation.

Wright can't be making much money, and the fact he is lefty and succesful leaves me wondering why another team didn't put in a claim. I mean, the Indians, Royals, and O's could use a lefty in the pen and all had a worse record than Tampa.

The Rays just gave up cash. Could it be international bonus money?

The Iglesias trade, remember, was a 3 team deal in which my Red Sox got Jake Peavy from the White Sox. It was Peavy Boston was most interested in.

Our GM has historically made more good trades than bad ones, so I won't write this one off yet, but am skeptical about it.

Heath could be interesting for someone but the contract is an albatross.

Garcia over Dirks would have been a better deal than any defensive SS over Enrque/Julio...Detroit lost that deal...a 22 yr old OF...who has shown he can hit in the Majors...they don't come around very often....defensive SS who are slap hitters are everywhere.
