ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the salary cap is expected to be set "at about" $133 million this season and may rise over $140 million in 2015 and $150 million in 2016.

Those would be huge increases compared to the minimal jump we saw last March. The 2014 cap could be set as soon as Friday. The $133 million cap would be a $10 million increase on last year's $123 million. With the reports of major leaps down the road, we could see fewer cap casualties and big spending next month with an eye toward the future. It's welcome news for the free-agent class.

Are you aware of his statement before the Super-Bowl "I might retire because I want to spend more time with my kids". Does that sound like someone you want to dole out a lot of money for ? Do you not think he'd look for at least Houston kind of money, if not more being that he's just 27 ?

I like DRC quite a bit but that comment, even in jest, makes me question if he really wants to play ball anymore... just sayin :gaah:

I wasnt aware of that and I see your point. Maybe he figures a couple more years and some more dough will benefit his family.

Alteraun Verner would be my FA CB if we are going to spend big money. Take him all day over all the rest. I doubt we spend that kind of money on a FA though.

Sure you would like CB Verner... until..... wait for it.....Verner could demand somewhere around $8-10 million per season. It’s a huge change-up from when this team was trying to demote Verner for their project, Tommie Campbell. Verner responded with a strong preseason, won the starting job, and clinched his first Pro Bowl berth.

Didn't you see OldLion say he doubts the Lions spend that much on a FA? I'm guessing no.

Old Lion, My apologies go out to you as I should have stated, "I read that Verner might command 8 - 10 mil per year".
