i believe that a 2nd round pick may start by week 8 a 3rd rounder may take a year . if you are willing to wait on that then sure i'm ok with it but understand what it could be

Fuck it guys, IM hoping Mariota is there and we take him at #5. :)
I pray that he is there. We have multiple options if he falls to us.

That's one way to look at it. Another is to say that we minimize risk by increasing the number of picks in the first 2 rounds. The chance of 3 players flopping is minimal. Oh, and please don't remind me of Davis, Thomas, and Kelly. No way lightening hits twice.

Not to mention the guy who drafted them was clueless at picking players.

Sure J-Y... any one we pick could turn out to be a flop. But then doesnt it make more sense to take the player considered a surer bet?? Most of the pass rushers outside of Williams have all been labeled as boom or bust. At worst most think Scherff will be a solid to great O-lineman even if its a guard.

i think this by far your strongest argument. I think it's pretty clear the bust risk with Scherff is lower than a lot of the other players. I'm still not convinced it's the smart pick but I can see your logic here.
