I just don't think we will see it this season. Too many holes now to fill with Bowman out again. sadly looking toward the next season already. Time to see what some other players can do in a real game and not just in OTAs and preseason. Maybe we will find some gems that can play when it matters.
no there will be a change at QB this year. Getting better as a team and getting out future QB will be done after this year.

We still don't know if it'll be Kaep first, or Ponder first? Likely Kaep so while i don't expect much, just don't want him to stand back there and hold the ball. There are other things that can go wrong when you hold the ball too long.

So even if its incomplete, make a faster decision and get rid of it. Even if they give Kaep one read, that's better than sacks, losing yard running OB, or getting holding penalties. If you're going to run fine, but make that decision quicker. Even if you run for only 3 yards, make the decision quicker and go.

Other than yesterday, the O-line was pass protecting really well. If Kaep can't take advantage of it now, there is no chance for him no matter where he goes.

Someone please explain to me why we didn't go after someone like Paxton Lynch, Prescott, or Connor Cook? Shit, try SOMETHING. This was a lost season before it even started because Baalke is an idiot who thought we would be good with what we have.

FIRE baalke. It's not possible for him to have handled the Kaep situation any. Worse than what he did.

At the time of the draft you take the best value out there, so apparently Redmond and Robinson were better values. You don't force a QB just because you need one, so i'm ok Baalke didn't force it. At the time of the draft no one knew how Gabbert and Kaep would perform in THIS offense? Of course NOW we know how bad Gabbert is.

BTW - right after the draft, did post we should've drafted Dak Prescott or at least Kenneth Dixon in Round 4. At the time, i thought they were better value than Robinson.

Yes, the contract will release the 49ers from guaranteeing next year's salary if he plays and gets injured. It could also help the team facilitate a trade.

Kaep shouldn't rework his contract. He's doing fine on the bench. Let the front office sweat this out.

The biggest question I have about Kap playing is can he fit that hair in a helmet? Next one would be will he take a knee after any completed pass to protest?

I prefer he's cut. My point is, I wouldn't do the front office any favors. Let them eat the costs.

They are eating the costs....he's getting paid while not playing. If the deal is done, and I guess it's still not resolved, it's a win/win scenario. Kaepernick gets to go back on the field to prove something, and gets to be basically a free agent next year for anyone to pick up. The Niners no longer need to pay him under any injury circumstance.

Kaepernick wants out of SF. The Niners want him out of SF.

Sure that's a win/win scenario.

Will the team be allowed to trade him? I wouldn't want to give them that power.

Hoping this deal works out and is the next Browns QB next season.

The supposed new contract will allow Kaepernick to be a FA after this year.

Kaep wouldn't sign a new deal where he is still tied to the 49ers. So no, they won't be able to trade him.

Laconfora apparently said we'll get compensation, but unless he plays WELL, just don't see it?

In the New deal Kap has the power to stay with the 49ers or leave. He has the option. Now if he sucks kap might take the 49ers on that option but then 49ers can cut him. So yes its a win win for both parties.
