I am just seeing the hit now. After all the talk, I wanted to say goalies hitting players was such bullshit, but this hit looked legit. He stood his ground at the top of the crease.

But like stated above, if goalies want to start full-on hitting players in the crease, they should be fair game if they step way out of the crease and try to disrupt a play because a players cannot touch him.

if goalies want to throw hits when pucks are in the vicinity of players so they can isolate puck from puck carrier i want to see players allowed to finish checks on goalies coming out to play pucks

they allow players to hit dmen up against boards up to 2 seconds after the dman has made the first pass to another player ... why not let guys finish checks on goalies ... the yard sales would be fun to see lol

Because they are the netminder. They shouldn't be touched when manning their post. But I agree, if they decide to come out and play the puck, or check an opposing player, then they should be fair game.

I thought the hit was really cool. Reminded me of a guy I grew up with, toughest S.O.B. in the nets I ever saw. I bet battling Billy Smith was sitting back laughing his ass off, too.

I agree about when they are playing the puck. I don't know, maybe keep the trapazoid as an area they can't be hit and let them play the puck at their own risk outside of it.

First of all thats a hilarious and awesome play by Thomas. Loved it.

However it should not be allowed. I don't think one should allow goalies to check players when they are not allowed to be checked themselves.

I like the idea of goalies doing that more often (I mean, what the heck are the refs gonna call? Hahah), but with as much as the goalies are protected, as a skater, I'd probably complain about that. There's just no ground to really complain. Is it slightly unfair that you can't sneeze on him but he can wreck you? Yes. But nothing says goalies can't check.
