If we could get a Tim Horton's in Charlotte it would be amazing.

My wife and I even called their corporate offices a few years ago to inquire and they said they weren't willing to open this far south just yet.

A few years later Krispy Kreme (the dominant player in this market) goes bankrupt and closes the majority of their Charlotte area stores.

If only Tim Horton's had been here to take over.

What is the dominate coffee shop there now? Dunkin Donuts, Spot Coffee or Seattle's Best? maybe another? There are so many different ones around the country now.

Probably Starbucks in the actual coffee shop market, DD in the coffee/donuts market.

There's a lot of 7-11 and similar style gas stations too which do pretty good business.

LOL, The one I didn't mention (Starbucks) figures. Like I said there are so many of them. I'm not a big coffee drinker myself but it seems like you can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a coffee shop. I see a lot of Spot Coffee shops opening up ( I think there are three in the Delaware/Elmwood Ave area alone) but Timmy Hortons is the dominate one.

That's why they could have done so well when Krispy Kreme moved out. There really wasn't (and still really isn't) a dominant player, so a strong push could have helped them.

Not to mention that there are a shitload of Buffalonians and other northerners around here.

Sure do wish they'd open a few here in the DC area...

I just love when my son plays tournaments up north. the first thing I do is find the nearest TH.

They're a gold mine in this town. There are two of them and they're busy (as in packed) from 7am until 7pm. You can't go wrong with a Timmies franchise.

I want Timmy's so badly. I pass 'em on my way to and from Pittsburgh in the CBus area. Stupid diet right now means I didn't get my usual. Disappoint.

There's 5 of them in the town where my parents live (~55 people) and they're all always busy. For one of them the town forced them to re-build the entire parking lot (which they share with other businesses) because the drive through backup was creating a hazard.

Same thing here. They seriously under-estimated the traffic and it's just havoc in the parking lots. Tim's - as a gesture of goodwill - should actually hire a guy just to help direct traffic as it's very ambiguous as to who's going into Tim's and who's just driving to other stores (you'd have to be here to see what I mean).

The hazard there wasn't the parking lot itself, but that the drive thru line backed up into the street and would block the sidewalk. Several accidents and a couple of hit pedestrians and the town had the legal basis to force them to pay for improvements.
