Why would you bench Robinson, who's been playing lights, for Cook who's coming off an injury and quite honestly isn't very good.

Or use all your timeouts unnecessarily.

I am so freakin' pissed! How the hell do you give up 9 points in the last 3 minutes of a ball game? A absolutely horrible game! As if the play calling wasn't terrible enough but as soon as they put Cook into the game you notice the old trend of allowing pressure up the middle. This should have an easy win as we should have pounded the ball at the end of the game to kill the clock. But some how Lewis finds a way to fuck up again. Damn!

Its no coincidence that the line struggled with protection after Cook was inserted back into the lineup. And the Spencer sack that killed the last drive came right up the middle. Marvin Lewis is a fucking moron!

excerpt~ Trouble with protection: The Bengals gave up five sacks, but none was more costly than the last one. On third-and-4, Anthony Spencer dropped quarterback Andy Dalton for a 10-yard loss and forced the Bengals to punt. That led to the Cowboys' game-winning -- and game-ending -- 13-play drive.

I don't really get the thinking either..... Even if Cook was an all-pro type of player (which he isn't), why would you have him getting such significant time when it was his first action of the season? I understand playing him for a series or two in the first half to get his feet back under him, but playing as much as he did was just ludicrous.

AJ makes the 1 catch ballgame's over, 1 timeout was called because Gresham was had no clue he was supposed to be on the field goal team. The Bryant TD drive was 3 or 4 crossing routes then the TD to Bryant, out coached on that sequence. Soon as heard about the Cowboy player getting killed I changed my pick in our office pool, I knew the Cowboys would win.

Marvin actually finally got it right. The play calling in the 4th quarter was just fine in regards to time management.

They passed the ball on a 2nd and 17 and a 3rd and 12 (sack) in their first series.

In the second series there was only one incomplete pass and that was on a 2nd and 10. They attempted to pass on 3rd and 4, but Dalton was sacked so the clock didn't stop. Time was not the issue here.

Marvin:

“If we run it and don’t make a first down, then you’re going to tell me, ‘Why didn’t you throw it?,'" Lewis said, via The Cincinnati Enquirer. “We’re just trying to do what we can do to make a first down and keep the clock going and get more points. The goal was to try to score when you got the ball on offense. We had one incompletion in the thing, and now you can sit back and say that we had an incompletion. Had we completed the balls and go forward, then we get a first down and we’re good."

He's absolutely right for once. I'd rather the aggressive play calling than the Marvin of old.

I agree.... If he would have went in to the final series with 2 straight runs, followed by the obligatory 3rd and 7 dump down to Gresham we would have been murdering him on these boards. We need to execute on their down - Particularly when it's under 5 yards.

I was more concerned that the offense was just completely ineffective at the end. we knew that Dallas could put up 3 if they wanted to.

Oh, BTW, as much as I hate Marv, I have a hard time blaming him for anything in the Cowboys loss. We dropped passes we normally catch, dropped interceptions, and Dalton missed a few easy throws. The play calling was the least of our concerns.

It doesn't take a rocket science to figure out who's the problem.

excerpt~

Cincinnati gave up five sacks during the team's four-game win streak. In the two games since, the Bengals have allowed 11 sacks. The only change has been the return of center Kyle Cook, who has shared snaps with undrafted Trevor Robinson. The coaches say the rotation has had no effect on the pass protection. "They both are capable centers and do great things," offensive coordinator Jay Gruden told reporters, via CBS Sports. "But it's not even an issue; it's not even a story.”

I remember a debate I had with Tubbs in the past regarding the opinions of these types of "analysts". These guys have to cover such a wide array of teams and topics that they have no time or the care to actually delve into what's really going on: looking at the stats, dissecting games let alone individual players, etc. Unless they're quoting a legitimate stats guy or source, they usually have no idea what they're talking about.

Their analysis is far too simplistic. "X player hasn't played the last 2 games and Y team went from a 4 game winning streak to a 2 game losing streak. Hence, X player is invaluable to Y team". But at the end of the day, it works for them. That's what their readers want and as long as the readers keep coming back, that's what they're going to get.

This was from 2 weeks ago:

Bengals Center of Attention: Kyle Cook and Trevor Robinson - Cincy Jungle

Along with Sanu's stretch and Dalton's "progression" was also Robinson's emergence over that 4 game winning streak against bad defenses. Dalton has shown his colors as was expected by some, Sanu got injured right after that 4th week and Robinson was "benched", so we never got the opportunity to see that same dropoff from Sanu and to a lesser extent Robinson as we saw from Dalton. But just because they've had the luxury of being masked by injuries and benching, doesn't mean either of those guys is as good as advertised or better than their counterparts.

Fixed for more accuracy.

We know Dallas has great athletes on their dline. As far as the Philly game, I think our lack of quickness on the line was exposed in pass protection. They were able to block for the run just fine in both games. But I don't really think the addition of Cook made a huge difference. This week we are going to need his experience going against Dick LeBeau. Also, if I remember right, Spencer's sack came on a stunt that Clint Boling didn't pick up.

He can't help himself. He's that fucking retarded.

Absolutely... why would you change anything on the teams that won that many games straight unless you had to? Cook had not played all year.

AJ Green is more naturally gifted. Chad was the best route runner in the league during his prime.
