Troof

The way their schedule is set up, if they go 6-6 or so, then NU does similar IMO.

Pac-10 looking much tougher than the B1G right now!!

I'm overall surprised by the reaction of Husker Nation to this loss to be honest. Most people seem almost okay with it, even right after it happened.

I was a fucking mess. It was noon the next day when I was forced to get out of bed. Am I the only one who dreams of a National Title run every season?

I mean I understand that the chances of it happening with a unit like this were very unlikely, especially when you see teams like Alabama out there dominating teams that dominated us just last season.......but cot damn, almost everybody had moved on past the loss like 15 mins after the game was over.

Another thing........I don't understand why all the players and coaches are talking about winning the Big 10 before the season starts......

It gives me the perception as a fan that your goal is to win the Big 10, whether it means doing it with 2-losses, 5-losses, or whatever........

Taylor Martinez is the only one who said anything about the goal being to win the National Title. I don't like this "1 step at a time" approach. It makes me almost feel like Bo and staff are putting it in the guys' heads that what really matters is first winning the Big 10 so that we can get that monkey off our back, and THEN we can think about taking the next step.

Fuck that bullshit.........winning the Big 10 and going to the Rose Bowl is the equivalent of getting 3rd place..........a nice consolation prize.

Go for the fucking gold!

I'm re-watching the game (since I can slow mo) and both our lines were getting dominated from the get go.

UCLA got a long PI call on their first play, converted a couple of long third downs, got caught holding and then missed a makable FG. NU played the run well, but there was no pressure on Hundley on the pass plays.

NU took over possession and immediately had a false start, a loss of 2 on a run play, a missed short pass, then a longer air ball that was almost intercepted. UCLA's D line blew NU's O-Line up in both facets of the game and Martinez was quickly under pressure both pass plays.

Maher then shanks his punt for 30 yds.

Should have easily been 3-0 UCLA after each team had a possession.

Thiz shiz comical...

UCLA's first play from scrimmage (second possession) TD pass after Hundley had all day. Meredith got held like a mo-fo, but the rest of UCLA's line was like a wall. Whaley fell down on the coverage but was already beat by that time anyway.

There was a holding call on the play, but it went against Whaley and was declined.

For some of us, it is a gift that comes with age. You learn to let go of it and look forward to the next game.

If you spend the week following a loss neck deep in the "how's, why's, if's and's or but's" you will miss the opportunity to really enjoy what really matters; it is football season again. You only get so many of them to enjoy. Stop sweating the shit you can't control and focus on the things you can; you own enjoyment of the game.

Just my 2 cents.

NU's second possession was all skill players.

Turner with a big play that should have been a loss. Martinez with short throw, then a great long throw to Bell under pressure, Abdullah with a couple of tough runs in between, then a nice 8 yd run for the TD. Quick strike stuff..

UCLA's second possession

Pass completion on poor coverage.
Swing pass to Franklin (who had been in motion) for a big gainer. By the time Compton figured out what was going on it was too late and he was out of the play. Stafford made the saving tackle.
8 yard run up the gut (D line completely walled off)

UCLA fumbles at the NU 15.

This is assignment defense stuff. :L

Anyway..UCLA left 3 points on the field 1st possession (missed FG), scored a TD second possession, and fumbled at the NU 15 third possession (3 or 7).

It is quite amazing that UCLA outgained us by 214 yards, converted on 9 out of 20 third down plays, we only converted 1 third down the entire game.........

And we only lost by 6.

We should have gotten our asses pounded.
