This was my first real husker memory that I really actually remember......

It was my first Husker game, Mom took me cuz it was her birthday, mine was two days before...... Since then if there is a home game near the 11th or 13th we still go......

I didn't get to go to my first game until 1997

My parents got to go on a trip to an away game once every year, but I was too young to go along because they were all going bar hopping the entire time.......

Besides that, we didn't have the money to go to games...........so me being the ridiculous fan that I was, had to wait 12 years before attending my first game.

We didn't have a lot of money either..... mom was the manager of a fast food restraunt.... dad was a sherrifs deputy..

Being that I was the baby of the family, I got spoiled.. I've went to at least one game a year since 1990....

In all honesty, we had enough money.........I mean we have a nice house, nice vehicles en sech.......

The problem is that my parents had zero hookups for tickets...........we drove down there before and tried to buy from scalpers, but shit they all want $150 per ticket for any conference game.........and my dad is so stubborn that he would rip them out and absolutely refuse to pay that much.

We have never by any means been well-off moneywise though........but I know we had enough money to go to football games.

My parents are struggling a lot more now than they were then....


That's why I really want that railroad job, so I can help them out some.... both their cars are falling apart... My brothers F-150 is getting shipped from Hawaii to my parents house next week, so they'll have that for a couple months, then he and his family are moving in with them until they find a house.... So that will help also....


Only reason they are struggling though is because of me and my sisters college, and the fact that they both took lesser paying jobs after I moved out so they could enjoy life more.... I just hate that they are in the position they are in now.... last I knew they don't even have insurance on the house because my dads medical bills/insurance are so high...

Somehow your family sounds very similar to mine..........

My dad has medical bills stacked 10 miles high..........and he is disabled now due to losing his leg.......which he does get disability paychecks, but they aren't much......and he was making $40,000 a year before this all happened.

Now my parents are really struggling.

The first game I remembering attending was the 1982 New Mexico St Game.
