Zero chance Breeland plays for close to league minimum. He is a starting corner in the NFL. A one year deal will cost at least 3 mil.

Some of you are commenting without reading. The reason this is a NO BRAINER is Breeland doesn't have to sign the tender, it just has to be offered by 4:00 p.m. May 8 then there are 4 possible outcomes:

Once the ‘Skins have tendered Breeland, and after the Tuesday deadline passes and Breeland is still a free agent, there are four possible outcomes:

  1. Breeland signs with another team before the July deadline (22 July or the first day of training camp, whichever is earlier), and the Redskins may get a better compensatory pick than they would have gotten otherwise. He’s likely to sign a contract with an APY in excess of $7m per season, which would likely result in a 5th round comp pick, moving the Redskins up from the current (estimated) 6th rounder for Terrelle Pryor. It’s just one round higher, but it comes at no cost to the ‘Skins.
  2. Breeland signs the tender with the Redskins ($1.977m) and plays another season for Washington.
  3. Breeland signs the tender with the Redskins ($1.977m) and they trade him for a draft pick.
  4. Breeland doesn’t play in the NFL in 2018 (a very unlikely outcome).
The worst outcome for the Redskins is that they get nothing, which is what they’ll get if they don’t tender Breeland before 4 p.m. Tuesay.

Simple math says three of these outcomes could be good for Redskins and one is the same as where they are at now.

No...I understand what the article said. I was responding to people like Dean who think starting corners play for league minimum.

BB probably upset Allen someway as a result Allen showed BB by not even offering the vet min! Even if it hurts the Redskins

I'm sure if the coaches wanted Breeland back they would get him . But I think there the FO is just saving money to..
1.resign future contracts for players they want to keep
2.if they can make it to the playoffs then that following FA period they can pick up the final pieces aka Rams style

Far as saving money goes, Hoss. Its gets NO better and its damn smart paying a year salary of 1.97 million dollars to a CB going into his 5th year. Who's been a legit starting #2 CB (57 starts/played in 60 games of a possible 64 games) for the last 4 years.
