Slashes after every whistle, face washes after every play, trying to bait guys into taking penalties, there was almost guaranteed to be some sort of altercation during line changes, extra shots behind the play etc. Elias never gets pissed and he was ready to blow a gasket in that game. I know every team does this to a degree but they were the most relentless that I saw, and just about everbody seemed on board with it.

PK Subban was the worst individual offender that I saw.

on the canucks?

/aside: maybe we can fire up the Canucks/Devils, Eberle and Subban for David Clarkson and Adam Henrique trade rumours

If that were true then you wouldn't be on the list...

Hey higgy, I was wondering if they ever found out what happened to the girl you refer to in your signature, did they ever find her or find out what happened?

No, no news. They found some remains near where she went missing, but they were not her.

The poor family still has no idea what happened and if she's still alive or not and it's going on 2 years now.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it's a story we hear far too often.

I remember you saying that remains were found, but hadn't seen an update. So sad.

So, did they at least identify who they did find?

Ok, I tried reading this thread real quick. Let's see if I have it right:

Cooke either likes dick or is a dick

Keith hates women and may be the Vancouver slasher

And Boss is opening up a sandwich shop with pix as a cook and Higgy as a waitress

How'd I do? Was I close? :D

Close, Boss is a dick for hi-jacking the thread

Boss likes women but is a chauvinist.

Boss is a good guy because he hires women to work at his sammich shop and drinks beer with them.

This the single thing I hate the most about hockey. What sport thinks it's acceptable to have constant physical altercations between plays? If you were designing hockey rules from the ground up, without the current established culture, would anybody ever think that's okay?

It's pretty crazy. Granted, it gets the fans riled up, so I guess it's like fighting in that respect. But the attitude goes all the way down, and spreads right through to coaches, parents, etc...

What drives me crazy about hockey is when a good clean hard hit is thrown why is it SOP for a player from that team to go after the guy that made the good check.

Hockey fans like to talk about how tough the sport is but have a problem accepting the fact that hard checks are a part of the game. I have said this for years, can you imagine how dumb it would look in football if a QB got sacked by a good blindside hit if the players from his team went after the guy that sacked their QB?

It makes no sense to me, is it a tough game with hard hit's or don't hit one of our players too hard with a clean check.

I think if you had faith that the refs would fairly penalize dirty hits, you'd be less likely to feel the need for vigilante action. But as long as the culture allows players to punch, slash, crosscheck, facewash, etc... after the whistle without immediate repercussions, that won't change.

What about something like this. Any physical contact between whistles, it's a 10 min misconduct, but without an accompanying minor penalty. If you do it again, game misconduct. Won't lead to powerplays, but will leave your team with a shortened bench.

It's just so unsportsmanlike, and no other sport, even tough ones like rugby, allow anything like it. I wouldn't care so much at the professional level, but some of the stuff I've seen at the high school level is so atrocious, and it all comes from this trickle-down culture.

That's pretty major if, unfortunately. It does sometimes get out of hand, but I still maintain that hockey has less dirty play and disrespect than other sports BECAUSE there is a chance that when you act up, you are getting your ass whupped.

Granted, nowadays it does go too far after each whistle, but ultimately it is still a fact. You play dirty, you have to answer the bell right away.

I don't know if scrappiness after a whistle is a 10 minute penalty. I think that would have the opposite effect. You would see more pot shots on stars because there would be less chance some gutless little punk would get beaten senseless right away after the cheap shot.

Ultimately, hockey is a game played by large men with sticks inside a box very fast. Controlled chaos. It would be silly for these kinds of things to happen in Football or Baseball where sometimes minutes pass between anything happening. But hockey is constant heart rate and aggression. But hockey players are some of the nicest and most down to earth guys around. And I sincerely believe that's tied to the instant justice nature of the game. I know I certainly learned early on that if I didn't want snow showers and gloves in my face, I should tone down the smack talk.

When Gretzky got traded to LA, he asked for Marty Mcsorely to go with him. Not Jari Kurri. There's a reason for that.

So I guess you disagree with my comment as well. :frown:

I think a scrum after a clean hit qualifies as a "cheap shot" and the dingleberry who goes after someone after a clean hit should get called out.

:pizza:

/I may have said this before, but dingleberry should be a more commonly used term in the vernacular.
