There IS a god. Let's hope Mr Pegula can bring a championship to this long suffering and great fan base. Thank You Terry Pegula !!

He is a multi billionaire and an 18 year season ticket holder. This makes my day. :):D

Good Buffalo News article too (nothing on Thursday's potential announcement, but sets the foundation for sure):

Prospective Sabres buyer wows panel - Sabres & NHL - The Buffalo News

"He was very impressive," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said. "He's down to earth, he's normal and he spoke about his passion for the game. He spoke about his passion for the Sabres and about this being a lifelong dream to own the Sabres and operate them. And he talked about his vision for the future."

Pegula, 59, was hoping to close on the Sabres before the NHL trade deadline Feb. 28, which would give him a head start on shaping the franchise's immediate future while giving him a jump on next season.

After us of course.

Bah, we totally deserve to be first in line. The Bruins at least have some in their history (even though it has been a while).

And even then, Boston has the Celtics, Sox, and Pats to keep them going in the absence of a good Bruins team.

Buffalo has...the Bills:L

Excellent - maybe he can "buy" some players and make a serious push to the playoffs.

They said on NHL live that Regier has already signed an extension. Is this true?

Actually DaBolts I got this e-mail too. It might be a wait and see game....

Lindy Ruff told Paul Hamilton and the media Tuesday afternoon that like Darcy Regier, he too was offered a contract extension but declined the offer. Ruff did say he wants to stay in Buffalo. For more on this story, check out WGR550.com!

I would bet Quinn is gone though. JMO.

I think Darcy has done a good job under the circumstances. It's not his fault they couldn't keep Briere, Lyudman & Tallinder. Campbell has one of the worst contracts in the league. Drury's isn't much better. Too bad he didn't let Vanek go to Edmonton. However after losing Briere & Drury the Sabres really didn't have a choice but to match the offersheet.

The farm system has some good young players coming like Adam & Kassian.

Well said, Now that the ownership is changing the media is coming out with tid bits. Darcy apparently made a good offer to Drury but Quinn and or Galisano nitched the deal.

They couldn't let Vanek go to Edmonton because in the press conference trying to justify letting Briere and Drury go Quinn said "We will sign Vanek" so when Lowe made the offer they had no choice but to match it.

I still feel Vanek can be a 40+ goal scorer if surrounded by players with some skill.

Darcy and Ruff have done a very good job under the circumstances and I think they will both be back. Quinn? No. JMO.

Am I wrong to expect more from Stafford & Connolly? They haven't lived up to expectations that's for sure. Ennis & Gerbe have skill. Buffalo really misses Roy. I guess Vanek needs a playmaking center. The problem is I don't know who that guy is right now. I really thought Connolly would be a much better player. I was definately WRONG.

Stafford has played well but has had injury problems. Roy was having a career season and that hurts.

Connolly I have given up on for various reasons. He is oft injured and since his major concussion has not been the same. He has skills but seems very timid at time's.

Gerbe and Ennis have been outstanding! I know I may be an eternal optimist but I really don't think this team is not that far away with the right move's. I do feel the new owner wants to win a championship, he is a hockey fan and a long time season ticket holder. He also has the money.

The Sabres have one of the best goalies in the league and I feel the new owner understands this. Again, I may be an internal optimist but I think he can get it done.

Yes Vanek needs a good line mate that can set him up. I hope we get one.

We sure could use it.

Edit: I should have mentioned Tyler Myers that I honestly will be a Norris candidate in a year or two.

Obviously we don't get all the information, but I can't see how he can be seen as anything other than a part of the problem.

Without even looking at the Big 3 of Briere, Drury, and Campbell, unless Golisano/Quinn forced him to overpay Connolly, Hecht, Rivet, and Pominville, I see those as his mistakes.

Is their a playmaking Center available? If so, who & at what cost? Obviously the Sabres are in the playoff race. The problem is with Dallas leading their division Brad Richards isn't going anywhere.

I think he may. Darcy had no say with the contracts and that's a known fact. He also brought Briere in here and structured the team to fit the "New" NHL. I am not in bed with him but would like to see what he can do with an owner that want's to win a Cup.

He may be on a short leash but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I really think the problems started at the top will Galisano and Quinn. I may be wrong but in this case I don't think so.
