Nah - there is a HUGE correlation between money spent and making it to the postseason.

There used to be.

But that isn't really the case in recent years.

I disagree. I would say spending money and winning it all is less correlated but actually making it to the playoffs is directly related to the money spent. Now this might sound a bit "Trollie" but it is true...teams like the Red Sox have fucked that up because they choke and give up and end up in last place despite spending nearly 200 million.

There's no question it has an impact.

But it is dramatically decreased from 8-10 years ago.

You think so? I don't. I bet if we did a cutoff of like 115-130 million team payroll teams with below that amount have about a 90% chance of missing the playoffs.

All you ever do is move goal posts.

Also, "my thread?" What are you, six years old? GTFO.

The point is everything I said was considered in my OP. Just because I am proving you and the other guy wrong doesn't mean I am moving posts.

You two are just the typical hardcore message boarder allergic to admitting they are wrong about something.

Agreed. I'd also say that over the last quarter century, there have been plenty of teams that spent a shitload of cash and didn't enjoy anywhere near the success that the Yankees did.

Anyone that would imply that Cashman has no skills is trolling, retarded, or both.

That's funny as hell. I pissed all over you and "your thread" last Friday, and you think you've proven anything wrong.

Self-awareness is clearly not your strong suit.

Let's not act like the Sox were a 65 win team when Theo became GM....they averaged over 89 wins the 5 seasons before before he became GM.

There's a difference between having a nice regular season record and having the actual pieces together to get the team in a position to beat the best in the league in October.

So according to the braintrust on this board, Theo shouldn't get total credit for the 2004 Sox because the Sox were pretty good when Theo took over?

Doesn't that apply to Cashman? Yankees had won 96 games the year before he took over and the world series the year before that. "what a remarkable job he's done"

Many people credit the architect of the Yankee dynasty as Gene Michael, given that when he was in charge the Yankees got Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte, Posada, O'Neill. Cashman made moves over the years to keep them competitive, but the base was already there.
