A decent epsiode seemed like it should have been a normal one instead of a season finale, was uneventful for the most part in terms of deaths or progressing a cure/solution and my god that priest is still gonna be around

I thought the episode was good, and I am glad no one major died. Killing characters in the finales is kind of expected now. After the samurai surgeon ran into the meeting there was a Carol reaction shot. Because of it being the finale I thought "Well, so long Carol".

I think maybe they were trying to show that Maggie had regained her faith, and now she's the one trying to lead the preacher out of darkness. Something like that.

Woulda been pretty funny if they started singing Kumbaya.

Thats exactly how I saw it. Maggie sees Alexandria as a gift from God, so her faith is in the process of being restored. Part of faith is forgiveness. If she can give that to Gabriel, than maybe he will be able to forgive himself. Everything he has done has been based in self-loathing.

Gabriel was a sham of a preacher, sure. But EVERYONE in the world now is a major sinner. I think this is the beginning of some sort of redemption for him (something that was sorely missing in the books). If they actually deal with him in the show more than they did in the books, I think he can be a good character (I not saying liked, I am just saying a better character).
