Poi is surprisingly good, though the best Hawaiian dishes are poke and kalua pork (which actually competes with Southern BBQ for tenderness and flavor). Never will get their love for spam though.
Grilled Spam n cheese is one of my favorites, my orang brother.

Not if you know/understand the family.

His dad was a college player and has pretty much pushed both of them to be quarterbacks from a young age. Tua is right handed, but throws with his left for example, because that's what his dad taught him. He started developing him as a QB at like the age of 4. And apparently pushed him pretty hard considering the belt story.

So it's pretty obvious that being developed and having a shot at the NFL is pretty important to his dad. Not many programs who can offer the same level of coaching/exposure as Alabama.

But probably the equally important thing is that they are big time Christians, so Alabama likely gets a huge leg up over a team like USC in that area. Probably the majority of players on the team are pretty open about all that stuff. And since they moved their family, not going to find the same kind of Christian communities in LA. Probably the one of the few recruitment battles where bibles beat out palm trees and legal weed.

Also added on to that is they moved their entire family and his little brother is also a QB. No coincidence that they moved to one of the top schools in the state. Football training/coaching and a somewhat upscale Christian community if I had to guess is where they live now. Based on what they sold their house for in Hawaii and what they could buy in Alabama, they are living nice I'm sure.

Is that a jar of spice that someone placed by his headstone?

He's buried in a little cemetery, in a small fishing village, where I have my fishing camp. Port Vincent, La. My camp is located directly across the Amite river from Fred's.
