He turned them around. He's not great by any means. But he also took over a dumpster fire.
turned them around when the good teams left the conference and brought in 2 FCS teams and played teams like Idaho which is now FCS and New Mexico State who is indi and still cant turn a winning record.

Gimme OU @ UCLA any day.

Year 2 for both Riley and Chip Kelly.

Chip Kelly inherited talent. It'll be interesting to see how they've progressed offensively after a full year in his system.

Per 247 team rankings

UCLA

2015: 14th
2016: 13th
2017: 27th
2018: 16th
2019: 35th

Oklahoma

2015: 17th
2016: 22nd
2017: 8th
2018: 8th
2019: 8th

Oklahoma 2018

Total Defense: 114th
Scoring Defense: 101st
Rushing Defense: 59th
Passing Yds Allwd: 129th
Pass Efficiency D: 111th

If UCLA can be competent in that game, sure. I'm not necessarily buying they'll be able to compete against OU.

I’m going to take the under but just barely. We are just talking about Oklahoma’s over/under right?

No the total.

Oklahoma averaged 48 PPG last year with a Heisman QB.

They'll be breaking in a new QB.

Key returnees: Redshirt freshman Tanner Mordecai

Newcomers: Senior Jalen Hurts (transferred from Alabama); true freshman Spencer Rattler (Phoenix, Ariz.)

Oklahoma QB outlook for 2019: How far can Jalen Hurts take the Sooners?

OKLA: 48
+
UCLA: 47

over/under = 95
.

His last year there he was 5 points from being undefeated. He lost to Wisconsin who won the B1G by 2. And lost to BYU by 3. He also left the cupboard pretty stocked considering what happened the following two years. My guess is they beat Nevada and Fresno if they ended up playing them based on their seasons. And depending if they get Boise St at home could have beaten them. They were rated higher in Sagarin than those 3 and it was by alot.

They're not being coached by Rick Neuheisel or Jim Mora.

Fucking Mike Riley's Nebraska beat Mora's UCLA in a bowl game.

UCLA finished 3-9 last year. If anything this is due to the respect I have for OU, because I don't think that game will be close at all.
They haven't been over .500 since 2015. They are a really bad team, and Chip's first year was their worst season record-wise since 1971. I don't know if they can make a spread that's too big for me not to take Oklahoma.

I think part of the UGa/ND attraction is the setting ... night game, return game in Sandford stadium, after UGa took over ND's stadium 2 years ago and tickets were going for thousands of dollars. People were passing on $5K ticket vouchers from the airlines. That Notre Dame shows up on the list as often as it does speaks to the ND tradition and history than the actual game, even where both teams are likely in the CFP discussion.

Do people really think UCLA has a chance against OU? They are going to get pasted in that game.

While like the respect you show OU, I am a bit of a realist when it comes to this game.

-Oklahoma is all but replacing the O line they had last year.
-Oklahoma's defense was horrible last year and they will be using a new system.
-As much as I like Hurts and love the idea of him behind center, he is still new to Riley's offensive scheme and I expect a drop off in production offensively.
-The game IS being played in LA.
-UCLA's team was very young last year and they now have experience and a year under Kelly's system.
-UCLA's quarterback showed flashes of competence last year and I expect he will be much improved this year with a bigger playbook to play with.

I still Oklahoma will win but, it will be a better game than last year and wathing those two face off will be entertaining as he'll.

I'm definitely trying to be a realist as well. I understand what OU has lost, and it is significant. UCLA is going to have to show major improvements IMO to make it competitive. If they do this game does have the potential to be very entertaining. I'm just not sold they will be there. But I very well could be wrong.

UCLA’s offense sucks and their defense isn’t much better. Chip’s a good coach for sure but he doesn’t have the jimmys and the joes to operate his system. They will get crushed.

I get the excitement for the game but UGA by 20.

This is why ND vs UGA is the #1 OOC game.

i would think 20-19 would have something to do with it.
just because people are willing to pay a lot of money doesnt mean the game will be good.
how much were championship game tickets last season?

I don't know how much they were for the title game. And the game may not be good. But this is pretty clearly the #1 OOC game this season IMO. Not just because of this, but for other reasons as well.
