I'd include someone like Welker in the top 10 solely on consistency. 399 catches for 4549 yards over the last 4 seasons (so an average of just less than 100 catches for 1137 yards per season) is pretty good

And probably ten drops a year. His hands are bad.

I mentioned him.

Ten drops with that many catches isn't exactly a huge amount though.

It would mean 9% of the catchable balls thrown his way don't get caught. You can put your faith in those odds, but I would rather not. I want guys who can hold onto a ball.

I put Julio on my top 10 list but I can definitely understand if somebody keeps him off considering he just can't seem to stay healthy. When healthy he is definitely a top 10 receiver in the NFL but being on the field has to factor into the equation.

I like Welker. He's a great WR. But I don't think he could ever be a true #1 WR. His success has a lot to do with the QBs he has gotten to play with. I'm not trying to take anything away from the guy. He's proof that smaller guys can ball too. But I feel like if he's your #1 target and you don't have good options around him, he'll struggle to produce at the level he does now. He's for sure one of the best route runners we've ever seen. But he is not elite at anything else.

What really interesting about the list is that Alshon Jeffrey and Demaryius Thomas were massive projects coming out. For every one of them, there are many guys like Baldwin, Quick, Barden or Hill who totally flop.

Very true. I think the difference is their physicality. The others that flop did not embrace the concept of physical play. They think their speed and athletic ability is enough.

1 - Calvin Johnson. Putting anyone else here right now is just stupid.
2 - A.J. Green. Best young receiver in the NFL. Great size, deep speed.
3 - Brandon Marshall. Very physical, can hurt you in a lot of ways. Also very consistent.
4 - Demariyus Thomas. Also big and physical, very tough to defend.
5 - Josh Gordon. Only one year, but his play was unbelievable especially considering his QB.
6 - Antonio Brown. Consistent as they come, can score a TD on any play.
7 - Jordy Nelson. Insanely underrated. Great body control, size, hands, and runs excellent routes.
8 - Julio Jones. If injuries weren't a factor, he's #2 behind Calvin, but he needs to stay on the field.
9 - Alshon Jeffery. Immensely talented, great great hands, almost impossible to defend 1 on 1.
10 - DeSean Jackson. A bit one dimensional, but he is the best home-run hitter in the NFL.

I'm a huge Julio Jones fan. And if could stay healthy, I'd take him over A.J. Green too. But at this point. The injury concerns are too risky for me. He needs to prove himself. DeSean Jackson is a great player, but this is his first season over 80 catches, and he's never had 10+ TDs in a season, and I just can't trust him. His attitude causes him to disappear in some games.

Maybe it has, but I'm giving him one more chance. 3 strikes and you're out. He was on top of the game. And then of course Calvin took the league by storm. His status is what keeps him on lists, but 3 down years in a row will knock him off my list. I believe he's going to put in the work and come back in a big way next season and the Cardinals will have another great year and find themselves in the playoffs possibly.

WR is a tough position to project in general...some guys just think they can get by on talent like they did in college, but quickly find that its a different game.

I wouldn't call Hill (Jets?) a flop just yet because of the QB he had to work with....Thomas made a huge developmental leap with PM that he never would've reached with Tebow running the show.

It's not even close. He's head and shoulders above anyone else.

I've learned...you have an OTT MO.

Fitz is not head and shoulders above the top 5 much less anyone else.
