Of course Colts CB Isiah Rodgers was the first suspended this year.

Why did the nfl's gay lawyers develop a fucked up gambling policy that their players can't read?

2 Colts guys got at least a year, then they were cut. This is one where I have to ask does the punishment fit the crime? They lose their job and when reinstated will have to sign a cheap deal somewhere. All for being dumb asses and careless but man that's quite a price to pay.

Exactly. These fucking lawyers are writing big words about nothing. They don't even have any intent. The only thing they are accomplishing is keeping themselves employed on the gravy train. These kids should retaliate.

It has to be that way. There’s already enough talk (some joke-some being serious) about the “script writers” and officials rigging games. They want their cake and to eat it too. They want all the direct and indirect revenue from legalized gambling but they don’t want to have people questioning the integrity of them being associated with legal gambling. They are perfectly willing to make examples out of people to protect that image. These are all employees who have contacts that say they can be fired for cause. The NFL is protected here legally. They can do anything they want. The only chance would be if they can prove that these punishments are inconsistent. That’s tough to do because legalized gambling is only relatively new and early on it wasn’t every state. Ironically, there could have been guys working with the mob for years and because it’s all illegal and a black market nobody knew.

I hear you and never argued that they can do what they want. I understand they need to protect the integrity of the game. But it is kind of laughable that the NFL is taking such a hard line on gambling after getting into bed with gambling with partnerships with Draftkings etc, they will be adding betting content to the NFL Network and they put a team in Las Vegas.

In the case of Williams he was not even in an official Lions building, he was in a hotel room the Lions had paid for. It was all so confusing they had to rewrite the gambling rules to try and make it more clear.

Williams is right to not appeal and spend his 6 games, but nobody can question their initially policy and training on it was far from sufficient.

Really frustrating that he was gambling on golf. And he asked if it was okay first.

The punishment clearly doesn't fit the crime...but it doesn't have to.

I wonder if the players will set up their own NFL "bookie's runner" that they can call and who will make bets on their behalf.

These guys are total scrubs. You'd think that they would be the ones on their best behavior for the simple fact that they want to stay employed.

This is the NFL's making big bucks off gambling and holding players responsible for NFL hypocracy.....

It's a rule. They know it's a rule. Yet they break it. I don't feel bad for them at all. Should it be a rule? No. But it is, thus needs to be followed. Boo hoo.

No they don't. The league is too retarded and couldn't even explain it. The league is so retarded they only caught about 5 guys of the hundreds that do it. And only because a couple lame ass states with some massively faggy politicians paid some bitchy lawyers to write a bunch of letters on a page with spaces between some of them. Fuck you corporate bootlicker.
