Out of the 8 teams in the AFC & NFC South divisions, only 1 has a winning record halfway through the season. Turribul. AFC South is a combined 12-20 and NFC South is a combined 10-21.

I don't get the bitching. There are bad divisions every year. Not every division is great. This is the nfc south 2nd down year in the 13 years that it's been in the league

"AFCW!" just doesn't have the same ring as "SEC!".

The issue to me is it means an undeserving team gets into the playoffs every year. This has happened every year with every division so not just saying this about the NFC South. When the Broncos made it with Tebow they were not deserving of the playoff spot and even more of a home field game. That to me is the thing that stinks is they stink it up most of the year and are rewarded with a home playoff game. I think at the end of the year it should just be the top-6 teams record wise instead of every division winner getting a spot.

But the funny thing we are only halfway through the year and the saints are not that far out. The saints can win 9 or 10 games while the Colts probably win 10 or 11.

If the saints weren't in the south they would be a half game behind Seattle/san fran & one game behind green bay for the final wildcard spot

You have a point, but I think I prefer keeping the current system in place. In the Broncos example that you cite, that mediocre Denver team did win a playoff game against an also mediocre Pittsburgh team.

While there is some appeal to only the top six records in each conference advancing, I think there is also something to be said for battling it out for a division title in all eight divisions, even though there routinely is at least one bad division each year.

You are right we are only so far into the season so who knows if the Saints get on a hot streak as that is very possible with quite a few home games left. I'm just saying if say there is a team that only wins say 7-9 games and wins the division yet then a 10 or 11 game winner team is left out it would be really hard in my mind to justify letting such a team in.

TD you are right it is fun to see teams battle it out for the division. I just think they could have a clause put into place that if the division only wins so many games for the top spot that maybe they give it up if a team is in the double digits for wins but is on the outside looking in. I don't want to completely take away from the whole divisional thing but I just don't like the idea of rewarding mediocrity either.

Before the season started, I believed the NFC South was going to be one of the best divisions.

I agree on that but how often has a 7-9 made the playoffs? Just the 2010 Seahawks so it's very uncommon

Fucking bucs & falcons shit the bed. I think most had Carolina between 6 & 8 wins. Saints will end up a few games short of some people predictions but did see a few 9-7/10-6 predictions as well which is what they should finish

Yeah, and if the Saints were not in the South, they wouldn't get to play awful teams such as Tampa and Atlanta twice.

Teams that Saints lost to have a combined 18-13 record.
Team that Saints beat have a combined 12-19-1 record.

The Saints are a very mediocre team, and anyone without black and gold shades on can see that.

There's awful teams in every division except the afc north.

We'll see how mediocre the saints are in the next 4 weeks. If they're as bad a you say they are, they should go 0-4 or 1-3 in their next 4

I would say even 8-8 though say there is a 10-win team that misses out.

Atlanta & Tampa are bad but are the rams, raiders, jets, jags, & titans any better?

Saints are so bad that they beat the team who probably gets HFA in the nfc by 3 tds.

Yep terrible team.

The thing for the NFC South is every one of the teams is just looking terrible. Saints yes are starting to turn it around a bit but they are the only division without having at least 1 team with a winning record. So yes there are other bad teams in the NFL but we are talking about an entire division that has looked mediocre at best and at worst having possibly 2 of the 5 worst teams in the league with Tampa and Atlanta.

And good for you guys beating Green Bay but I am really doubting they have homefield throughout the playoffs. I also doubt if you guys went to Green Bay in the playoffs that you guys would even come close to standing a chance in those cold conditions. The Saints are showing they are a team that needs home field to even stand a chance and at this point they are looking like Wild Card Weekend they could possibly win but divisional is where the train stops. Now yes I could be completely wrong but I just don't see a team that even comes close to competing for the Lombardi this year.

The Saints are a much different team at home. I would look very forward to having the Packers play them again at Lambeau when it means something.

Idk why this is that surprising.

I was more surprised when people thought Atlanta and Tampa were going to be formidable this year. Didn't get that at all.

I like the format, you can't change it because of a bad division. These things are fluid, last season the entire AFC was a joke, now they look at least half as good as the NFC.
