Gamecocks QB Connor Mitch hospitalized for hip infection, out 4-6 weeks | CollegeFootballTalk
Add South Carolina to the list of teams with injured quarterback concerns. Connor Mitch will miss the next four to six weeks after being hospitalized for a hip infection. Steve Spurrier announced the health status of his quarterback Sunday.

“He got treatment all week, and felt like he was ready to go,” Spurrier said. “I think he probably just got hit again on that deep bruise, and it is an ugly bruise. That probably aggravated it also.”

Arkansas loses leading WR Keon Hatcher for at least six weeks | CollegeFootballTalk
As if losing at home to an unranked Toledo team without its best player was not bad enough for Bret Bielema and the Arkansas Razorbacks, wide receiverKeon Hatcher suffered a foot injury that will keep him out of action for at least the next six weeks.

Bielema announced the injury update Monday, saying Hatcher went in for surgery in the afternoon and isexpected to be out for a minimum of six weeks. If that is a best-case scenario, that would leave Arkansas without its top wide receiver for upcoming games against Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Alabama and Auburn. That is a tough stretch to go without the top receiver on the field, especially after going down at home to Toledo. And that is just the best-case scenario. Ole Miss and LSU still linger toward the end of the season, as do Mississippi State and Missouri.

Hatcher leads the Razorbacks with 198 receiving yards and two touchdowns through two weeks. he also led the team with 558 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions last fall. His loss is, of course, significant.

Before the season started the Razorbacks also lost last season’s leading rusher, Jonathan Williams, for the entire season.

How's the freshman Nunez looking? Think he'll get a shot or is he redshirting?
The dude is awesome athlete. We've used him for trickish stuff so far. I think he had 2 runs for 40 yards this week. Hasn't passed yet.
Orth throws waaaaay better than Mitch.

Auburn loses DB Josh Holsey to torn ACL injury | CollegeFootballTalk
Before Auburn heads into SEC play this week at LSU, Auburn had some unfortunate news on the injury report to share. Defensive backJosh Holsey will miss the remainder of the 2015 season after tearing his ACL in Auburn’sovertime victory over Jacksonville Stateon Saturday.

“We’re going to talk through all that,” Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said, according to Al.com. “It’s tough on him. He’s one of our team leaders, too, and I know a lot of his teammates are hurt for him.”

Holsey’s loss is a hit to the depth at the position. The senior has appeared in each of Auburn’s first tow games of the season, although he carried a limited role. He was not on the field for much of Auburn’s season-opening win in Atlanta against Louisville, but he did start for the Tigers against Jacksonville State. He has not recorded a tackle in either game.

Holsey started seven games for Auburn in 2014, with one interception. He could be eligible for a medical redshirt since he has not used a redshirt in his four years at Auburn. It is not known if he will pursue that option just yet. If he does choose to apply for one, the NCAA will have to grant approval for an extra year of eligibility.

Arkansas loses another receiver to injury

For the second time this week, Arkansas’ receiving corps has taken a hit.

Bret Bielema confirmed Wednesday thatCody Hollister sustained a broken foot during Tuesday’s practice. The wide receiver underwent surgery yesterday to repair the unspecified damage.

The Razorbacks head coach declined to give a timeline for Hollister’s return to the playing field.

Last season as a redshirt sophomore, Hollister started seven games and caught 13 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. This season, he’s caught four passes for 65 yards in two games.

Earlier this week, Bielema announced that the Hogs’ leading receiver, Keon Hatcher, sustained a foot injury as well in the loss to Toledo. Hatcher is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks.

Missouri football players Terry Beckner Jr., DeSean Blair, Keyon Dilosa and Trevon Walters were injured in a car accident on the corner of College Avenue and University Drive on Friday afternoon, according to team spokesman Chad Moller.

Beckner and Dilosa were treated at the scene and released, while Blair and Walters were transported to University Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, Moller said. Their statuses for Saturday’s home game against Connecticut are still being assessed.
