Obviously Cincinnati is on par with Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State.

Maybe Cincy should play Army. Then we can make a better judgement.

Cinci should play an FCS team to assert their dominance.

The point really is that everyone plays easy warm-up games. When you look at the Big 10 schedules that OSU and Michigan play, UCF would be lucky to break even.

Your reading comprehension needs work. I never said Wimbush was a great QB.

He's their best option at QB. I'm not comfortable with any of the freshmen/backups starting yet.
He barely completed half his passes against an FCS team but he would dominate Stanford? I stand by the belief that he is not as good as you believe he is.

UCF would boat race uf. And we dominate Bama.

There is nothing in the last in the last couple of years that doesn't say UCF isn't a Top 3 team.

#UCFacts
You do have a pretty solid current recruiting class there, just like Hawaii, Houston, Northern Illinois and even UCONN seem to scrape together every 10-15 years. UCF is not 5 years removed from 0-12 though.....how does that even happen? Get back to us in 20 years.....#UCFicticious

#UCFacts

Last year
played 2 ranked teams, beat #24 who beat no ranked teams or P5's with winning records.
Lost to #7 who had 9 defensive starters out, 40-32, LSU went 3-3 against the ranked opponents on their schedule.

Two years ago
Played 2 ranked teams. Beat #25 twice, last time in the AAC Championship game in 2OT. Memphis beat no other ranked teams and was 1-1 versus P5, beating 6-7 UCLA 48-45 and losing to 8-5 Iowa ST 21-20.
Played 2 P5 teams, the first 4-8 Maryland, the second #10 4-loss Auburn 34-27.

So, in two years you beat #25 twice, #24 once, and #10 once and lost to #7.

The teams currently ranked #1-3 have done the following:

Clemson: 2017 Wins: #10 Auburn, #24 VT, #23 NC State and #13 Miami, and 6 other P5 teams. 2018 Wins: #16 Texas A&M, #15 Syracuse, #5 Notre Dame and #2 Alabama and 9 other P5 teams.
Alabama:2017 wins: #18 LSU, #19 Miss St, #4 Clemson, #2 Georgia and 6 other P5 wins. 2018 Wins: #16 Texas A&M, #6 LSU, #25 Miss St., #7 Georgia and #4 Oklahoma and 6 other P5 wins.
Georgia 2017 Wins:#11 Notre Dame, #17 Miss St, #10 Auburn, #3 Oklahoma, 7 other P5 wins 2018 wins: #7 Florida, #11 Kentucky. 6 other P5 teams

There is nothing you have done in the last two years that says you should be in the top 10, let alone ranked ahead of any of these teams, they have all done more in any one year than you have done in two.

Smoke and mirrors is all UCF has, fitting for the Mickey Mouse school. It is an animatronic hoax whose facade is the one good win they have had in program history. Thanks Auburn.

Hey not many teams can claim that over Alabama, but .500 since 2000 is good too.

Wow it is a really weak slate of games this week. I like the Florida / UK game only because I’m a UK fan.

Wash St. / Houston could be entertaining.

The Season So Far-week –Week 2

1st 4: Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma

2nd 4: Ohio State, LSU, Wisconsin, Notre Dame

3rd 4: Florida, Michigan, Texas, Penn State * I think Florida is overrated. Penn St. may be, as well.

Analysis: I’m holding off on LSU unlike other polls. They’re good, but not sure if they’re better than top 5. Georgia is the most suspect and needs to play a quality team. Florida redeemed itself after a mistake filled first week. Wisconsin is the big surprise so far, yet to allow a point.

Playoff Teams: Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma.

Analysis: Exact same 4 as I had last year after week 2. Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame and Wisconsin look like their biggest challengers. In 2 weeks, ND and Georgia will clash in a possible elimination game.

Most disappointing: Tennessee, UCLA, Miami, Florida State. * I didn't expect much out of any of these teams, but I gave Miami the benefit of the doubt in pre-season rankings.

Analysis: Tennessee has had 2 embarrassing losses as has UCLA and Miami. Could be coaching changes unless they can turn it around. Florida State barely won last week after a stunning week 1 loss.

Most Surprising: Wisconsin, Maryland, Utah, and Boise State. * At first I thought it was a big deal when Wisconsin crushed USF in their opener; then I went back and saw the Bulls closed out last season with 6 straight losses. I did rank Wisconsin after their Week 2 win over CMU, but I still have questions about them. I expected Maryland to be better - but not by as much as they have shown so far! No surprise or strong buy on the other two.

Analysis: Wisconsin has looked very good against some decent teams. Maryland has destroyed two opponents including Syracuse. Utah could just be the biggest surprise of all by winning the PAC. Boise State is the early leader for the group of 6 bowl game. * I still see UCF as the leader for that slot.

Heisman Trophy: Jalin Hurts, Tua T, Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Jonathan Taylor

Analysis: Definitely a close race. Jalin and Tua are the leaders. Taylor suffers from being pulled early in blowouts. A lot of writers have Joe Burrows in here, but I’ll take a pass for at least one more week. Trevor Lawrence off to a slow start this year and in danger of falling out of the race.

Big 3 Games of the Week: UCF-Stanford, Iowa-Iowa State, Alabama-South Carolina

Analysis: A real slow week for big games. If UCF runs the table, this could be their biggest test. I like UCF by about 10. Iowa and Iowa State are both undefeated, so this is obviously a big game before they start conference games. Iowa State has been a disappointment so far so I like Iowa to win big. Alabama appears to have very few obstacles in their chase for another undefeated season, but this game should not be overlooked. Alabama by 17.

Big games in September and early October: Michigan-Wisconsin, Notre Dame-Georgia, Utah-USC, Auburn-Texas AM, Penn St-Maryland, Auburn-Florida.

Analysis: Notre Dame and Georgia is the biggest early season game. The winner moves into prime position to challenge for a playoff spot. Michigan and Wisconsin will determine if Michigan is going to be relevant this year or whether Wisconsin is the real deal. Penn State and Maryland looks intriguing. A playoff challenger should emerge from the Florida-Auburn game.

My problem was who to rank in those bottom slots. Michigan might be a huge mistake, but I left them there. Maybe I should have ranked Auburn, considering their win over Oregon?

I need to see a little more out of Utah.

That’s a foolish comment and completely off base. No way 2017 - 2019 UCF struggles to go .500 in the Big 10. Bullshit. They have speed all over the place and serious explosiveness on offense. Maybe they don’t win the Big 10 but they would be one of those handful of teams right there in the mix. Not quite a top 5 type team nationally but certainly in the back half of the top 10 where they’ve been finishing these past couple of seasons. I think they’re the front runner again for the Group of 5 bid. That’s a damn good football team and they deserve respect.

This is were UCF's recruiting class would have ranked in B1G during the following years

2015 - DEAD LAST - bottom 4 Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, Rutgers
2016 - 12th - bottom 4 Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers, Illinois
2017 - 12th - bottom 4 Purdue, Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern
2018 - DEAD LAST - bottom 4 Northwestern, Illinois, Rutgers, Purdue
2019 - 14th - bottom 4 Rutgers, Illinois, Northwestern, Maryland

The teams that have finished in the bottom 4 at least 3 times over 5 years are Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers, Northwestern, and Illinois. They are collectively 33-58 since 2017 in B1G play.

The only outlier is Northwestern and quite frankly they avoided Michigan and Ohio State in 2017 but got boat raced by Penn State and won 3 games in OT. In 2017 they got both Michigan and Ohio State and lost to both, in addition to winning 4 B1G games by a total of 14 points.

You can overcome the talent gap for a game, it is extremely hard to overcome for a season.

I find it highly unlikely that they would finish in the top 3 of the B1G in either season. Whereas their actual ranking in both of those seasons would have made them the 2nd ranked B1G team behind Ohio State both years. Worthy of respect, sure, second place in the B1G...not likely. Ohio State had more 4 and 5 stars in any one of those years than UCF has had in the history of their program...a lot more.
