This is obviously a guess for a lot of people as trades/UFA signings may be on the horizon, but...give it your best shot.

My guess for the Pens? I don't really see much of a change in the roster as it is.

Dupuis-Crosby-Kennedy
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Vitale
Adams-Jeffrey-Glass

Not bad...not bad. If you want to keep that opinion skip over this next part, because it's a little...umm...unproven:

Orpik-Letang
Niskanen-Martin (these pairs may be switched to Orpik-Nisky, Letang-Martin)
Lovejoy-Engo (Strait, Bortuzzo, Despres, Morrow, etc.)

G: Fleury, Voukon (best signing of Shero's tenure possibly)

The D is where the question lies. We'll see.

I think Despres plays full time this season. And I think it's Martin who gets third pairing minutes, unless he plays a lot better than he did last year. Lovejoy is the odd man out.

Really? Why have one mediocre/best years are behind him goalie at $5 million when you can have two mediocre/best years are behind him at $7million!!

*could* be. With a shortened season and tons of games, I think this works out. I liked the signing when the Caps signed him, but young guys outplayed him. Fleury works much better with a guy breathing down his neck. Having a solid backup is going to be a factor for a lot of teams. He won't be the savior, but I think he's a very important part of the team.

That could be taken a lot of ways. ;)

Fair points, Pix. You could certainly spend $2million in worse ways, I just think Shero's had some much better signings. It might work out (god I hope not! ;) ).

I mean, the Neal signing may be his best work actually. No...no...his best signings are the non-signings. He's been a lucky SOB with some of the guys that DIDN'T sign with the Pens (Hossa, Malone, Parise). Would've been cap-hell. I dunno, after having to see Brent Johnson last year, the idea of Voukoun (the noted Pen-slayer) in a Pens uni was nice.

Also, I knew the breathing down the back would be taken inappropriately. Hahahah, I changed it from "being on his back".

I hope they call Beau Bennett up for camp. Kid is really really good, top 6 good. Lacks the seasoning, but is kicking ass in WB/S. He is a very good friend and former teammate of my Nephew in Cali. They both played for the LA Jr. Kings throughout their childhood/high school years.

Said the same thing. I wanna see him get a chance. He WILL be at camp according to the WBS blog I follow. I think if he hadn't had the injury he did at Denver (...it was UD, right?) he'd be much closer. I know he's the top point scorer at WBS. Of course, Eric freaking Tangradi (Mr. "Almost a Bust") is their leading goal scorer. I think he has a shot of making the roster, but the short camp doesn't help him. That said, injuries will happen, more so with a 50 game season condensed in a few months, so I'm fairly sure he'll make his NHL debut this year. SO pumped to see him play. Lots of youth that may make an impact. LOTS.

Listening to PensNation and they have Josh Yohe on: Despres isn't invited to camp. Apparently the org isn't happy with what he's done so far.

Wow. I thought he looked pretty good out there with the Penguins. I wonder what isn't pleasing them.

I don't even know for the Caps. Haven't thought about hockey outside of a board room setting in so long I forgot half our players. But here goes...

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Knuble
Semin - Fleischmann - Chimera
(brown-haired guy) - Oates - Perreault
Bradley - Steckel - Hendricks

Defense
overrated Canadian defender - overrated American defender
oft injured guy - oft burned guy
offensive juggernaut - defensive just naut

Goalie - 2 rookies I'm sure

This is not your opening night roster right?

just throwing names out there as a starting point.
opening night would have more of the rookies if they still get 9 free games.

I even forgot Raymond (or whatever return he might bring).
~ joke about him falling out of contention goes here ~
