Nice thing is that if we trade Despres we probably won't get anything in return because we can't afford to pick up any more contracts. Otherwise we probably would trade Despres to keep Niskanen and Engelland.
It is a sad state seeing Despres get looked over again but I doubt they trade him to keep those two.
I think it is more along the line that neither of those two have any trade value but if waived a team would jump on them so they wouldn't have to give anything up.
So for the Penguins this might be the best value going forward and when their contracts are up Despres moves into the top 6 next year or later in this season when either has trade value?
