I personally don't get those huge numbers in the article. I like JRod, but to make him a $40-$50M per year player after less than a year? Right now he is 31st in WAR for position players at 3.4. In comparison is Suarez at 3.3.Going back to the JRod extension convo from another thread (didn't feel like finding it...lol). Here is a take on it from Passan. Scary numbers.
ESPN's Passan: Mariners' Julio Rodriguez could get paid 'like nobody else'
ESPN's Jeff Passan breaks down what Julio Rodríguez could net in a new deal and why he thinks the Mariners should attempt to lock him up now.sports.mynorthwest.com
Right now he is playing like George Springer.
JRod: .271, 19 HRs, 62 R, 63 RBIs, 450 PAs
Springer: .271, 18 HRs, 64 R, 54 RBIs, 407 PAs
I hope he gets paid, but I also hope they don't get stupid.
