Speaking of that game - there has not really been more of a one hit wonder than Timmy Smith. To this day he still has the SB rushing record. He played one more season w/ the Redskins where he hardly did anything after a holdout & weight gain & then barely played in 1 game for DAL before getting cut & fading into obscurity along w/ a few personal problems.

Along w/ guys like David Tyree these are the things of SB legends where truth is stranger than fiction.

That was a great game from Smith, but it was an even greater game from the Hogs. I seem to recall he started the next year against the Giants on MNF to open the season. He gained 100 yards or so at 5 yards a pop that night, but he also had 2 huge fumbles. One of which was in goal to go territory for the Skins. After that he was rendered pretty much null n void.

Lemme see here....

Washington Redskins at New York Giants - September 5th, 1988 | Pro-Football-Reference.com says the Skins fumbled the ball 3 times and lost 2, but I can't find or didn't see who fumbled. I'm sure Smith fumbled twice though and the Skins lost both.
