Looks like the contract extension Shaw signed in 2012 is paying off. 2014 numbers show a base of 2.65 million (a million less than Petersen). However, bonuses and deferred comp raised his 2014 total to 4.1million. I think he may be worth it.
Stanford nearly doubles David Shaw's compensation
What do you know, that's actually the same story for UCLA and Josh Rosen. Josh too was the first true freshman starter in team history.Actually he was the first true freshman starter in team history.
View attachment 138461 Nice shot of the indoor practice facility as well.
Im pretty sure Matt Barkley a few years back was the first true freshman to start for USC. And his first game was against top 3 Ohio State on the road. Some body inform Oregon it can be done .lolWhat do you know, that's actually the same story for UCLA and Josh Rosen. Josh too was the first true freshman starter in team history.
Ironic as long as these to Schools have been around, that it happened in the same year.
Combined, that's over 200 season in total!
Mariota did it as a redshirt. ONeil did it too. not sure if Oregon has had a trueIm pretty sure Matt Barkley a few years back was the first true freshman to start for USC. And his first game was against top 3 Ohio State on the road. Some body inform Oregon it can be done .lol
Watch what you wish for, if he really is good, he may be gone to the NFL after two years as your starter when red-shirting his first year.I wish we could have RS him and had another year to train him up.
I guess I was more going for the angle of not having to start a true freshman at QB because we had better options. Sure, it's going to be rare for schools to have 4 year starting QB's threatening their records anymore. The ones capable of reaching those will all leave early. That's today's game.Watch what you wish for, if he really is good, he may be gone to the NFL after two years as your starter when red-shirting his first year.
If in fact he really is that good, you get three good years at Washington when starting him as a true Freshman, where his starting year is his break in year.
The other way around, you get one year as he figures it out and his next year is his last, as three years removed from HS is the qualifier for entering the NFL draft.
After seeing him last year, I think starting him was the best bet for Husky fans.
Stay tuned.
Let's be honest, it is usually a desperate and or depleted team that starts a true frosh at the helm. Most if not all head coaches would rather redshirt their first year to let them learn the play book and put on some muscle.Im pretty sure Matt Barkley a few years back was the first true freshman to start for USC.
