Busy weekend in the tPAC for recruiting:

3-star TE Scooter Harrington (Greenwich, CT) has committed to Stanford.

3-star DB Keyon Riley (Anaheim, CA) has committed to UCLA.

Arizona had another de-commitment with 3-star DT Markell Utsey (Little Rock, AR) who then immediately committed to Missouri. This is the 4th Dlineman to decommit from Arizona this class. Some of this was to be expected with the new DC coming in, but it's been a rough recruiting season for the wildcats. RichRod interviewing for another gig couldn't of helped matters either. They got a lot of work to do the next two weeks and going forward with that defense.

4-star DT Keyshon Camp (Lakeland, FL) has de-committed from USC this weekend. Ohio State, who is still in need of a DT for their class offered recently and probably has something to do with this. Missouri is also pursuing.

3-star CB Obi Eboh (SouthLake, TX) has de-committed from Texas and appears Stanford offer and recent visit was involved. Likely that he commits to Stanford soon if all the academics checkout.

2-star WR Paxton Segina (Austin, TX) has committed to Stanford after de-committing from Rice this weekend.

Hope I got that all right.... :hope:

3-star WR Jordan Chin (West Hills, CA) has committed to Washington. :suds::yes::thumb:

He was visiting this weekend and there you go.

That's a wrap unless Petersen and the coaches have a late monster or two. Either way, really nice looking class for 2016. It's great watching something special being built here at Montlake.
So why are you anticipating a small class again? 17 right now.

17-18 was the projected class size. We return most of the starters and lost a relatively smaller amount to graduation this year. We don't play the over signing game or abuse the grey shirt thing so we got to make sure we don't exceed the scholarship limits. So it's a quality over quantity year for sure for the Huskies.

24/7 has Washington and Oregon basically tied for pac12 class ranking right now, but Oregon will probably get a few more commits before LOI so you'll move up a few more slots of national ranking by LOI. Your class size should end up around 20 players. Hoke is not going to kill himself trying to fill every projected need for your D this year. But expect him to make up for it with the 2017 class. A few transfers will likely go down as well depending. If so, Ducks could be looking at a very big class next year. 25+ And very heavy on the D. You've recruited relatively well the past classes so there is talent on your roster. You don't have to rebuild Rome when it comes to your D, but 2016 will be "work in progress" time for it.

Yeah, the thing that truly hurt the defense last year was losing 75% of the starting DBs they were young and when Adams got hurt the offense simply couldn't cover their asses like they needed so they could learn. With the experience they have now and they amount of talent they have coming in this recruiting cycle the D should make improvements from where it was last season.

The funny thing about college football is you think you will be fine because (an example) you played a ton of youngsters on the D line and linebacker because of injury and you think OK we should be good , then the next year you lose three guys off your offensive line and you're in the same boat but now the offense is the issue.

True, that is the joy and the struggle that is college football.

As a fan of a school that has gone through a protracted down cycle I can also say the often used mantra that youth this year leads to more experienced and better play next year doesn't always come true. Even when they were highly touted high school athletes that look the part.

I'm not saying Oregon's defense can't improve with some of that experience, but unless you all saw signs that they were 'getting it' as the season waned on you may find some of your new recruits (or any red shirts) replacing some and still find yourself with youth out there.

That's what finally has UW fans so stoked about next season. They were young (again ffs) only this time that youth played fairly well AND was really advancing at the season wore on.

Happens all the time. A unit plays bad all year and the teams fans say they were young next year they will be good. Then they realize they were young and bad the season before and now they are experienced and bad.

There were some flashes near the end of the season to be optimistic about. They kinda got tossed under the bus in the second half of the bowl game. I have hope, small though it may be.

I really like this hire. He was a great defensive end at USC, had a successful NFL career before it was cut short by lymphoblastic leukemia and then got into coaching after he retired from the NFL in 2009.

He has worked with the defensive line and strength staffs in Seattle, Washington, Minnesota and Pittburgh.

Washington isn't anything to brag about, but those other three usually have very solid defenses. Seems like a strong hire.

Wilcox get to replace Aranda at Wisconsin. Gonna be interesting. This time he's taking over a defense that doesn't need to be rebuilt.

Stanford adds two about 20 minute span, recommit by Herbig who got the admissions letter recently:

And a flip of Texas commit:

Sounds like both of them were unsure about getting past admissions and announced for Stanford as soon as they got their acceptance letter.

Yep, there are 4 de-comitts that are suspected admissions casualties so far, and one that took the SAT for a 6th time recently to try and get his score up for admissions. Not many schools have to go through this, and it is one of the things that makes me proud of the program Shaw runs.
