3* OL Matthew Gutwald choose a walk-on offer at Stanford over scholarship offers from Arizona, Oregon, Washington St, and the Ivy League.

ASU is good at getting JUCO 3 stars but I want more 4 stars! What will it take to attract some real good talent to the largest Univ with excellent weather? Huh? What? Our facilities are getting better and better by the hour.

I have that same 1987 PAC Champions Rose Bowl collectors bottle that you have as your avatar.

Its on my office desk. I was at the game. That's pretty cool. I have been tempted to open it

I gave mine to my son and it's on a shelf in his room. I was also at that game. A friend of mine who's family had season tickets for years, got me a ticket. Literally called me the day before the game saying he had a ticket if I wanted to go.

My older sister was a Cheerleader for ASU and that was my free ticket.

I suppose that's understandable when he could potentially be stuck behind Freeman for two years. I have a feeling Freeman will elect to enter the draft after next year though.

Only silver lining about the USCs class right now is they are third highest in star rating so theve got good rated players but they need more bodies. I hope this is a learning experience for Clay. There's too many good players in california to not get bodies. But like most have said you can't do much when you've just barley filled out your staff.

and Vavae Malepeai chooses USC over Oregon. must not have liked the depth chart at Oregon with Freeman, Tyner, Griffin, Benoit, BrooksJames and others.

Looks like USC won't finish with a top 10 class, but it looks like it may be a better class than many expected considering the coaching turmoil. USC's current class is ranked anywhere from #16 to #33 depending on which recruiting service is being looked at.

Part of the reason that this class won't make the splash of last years #1 class is USC has already filled almost half of the 25 available scholarships.

"It's almost as though USC conducted an experiment. How much turmoil could the Trojans create and still pull in a strong recruiting class? A substantial amount apparently.

Last year, USC took on 5 "blueshirt" players whose schollies were deferred to 2016 (Deontay Burnett WR, Daniel Imatorbhebhe and Taylor McNamara TE's, Clayton Johnston OL and Chris Tilbey Punter). They also had 7 early enrollees who will be able to start practice in the spring (Matt Fink QB, Josh Imatorbhebhe and Michael Pittman WR's, Oluwole Betiku, Liam Jennings and Nathan Smith DL's, and C.J. Pollard DB) all 7 are 4 or 5 star recruits. This leaves 13 available scholarships.

USC has non-binding commitments from six players (Frank Martin G, Velus Jones, Tyler Vaughns and Trevon Sidney WR's, Cary Angeline TE, and Jordan Iosefa LB).

USC is also considered the favorite to land 5 star CB Jack Jones. Jones would be considered the highlight of USC's class, atop a group that includes 5 stars Betiku, Pittman, and Vaughns."

Actually, look at my post #6154. Things may not be so bleak after all. That's directly from this mornings paper. It's not going to be like last years class, but we definitely have a chance at a very solid class.

Thanks. I havent worried about the quality I just know we need to start getting some numbers. But I'm content. Remember its the Pac USC has to win to get a chance.

Its Oregon. They use plenty of WRs and RBs so no depth wouldn't be a reason . You just told us they are proven so they all played. USC has a few great backs right now too.

 Haven't you heard? Running backs choose USC over Oregon all the time because of all of the depth and tradition of great running backs that Oregon has.

Yeah, I agree. Need to get some numbers. We have 13 still available. Hopefully, we fill all 13 spots. But, I 'd rather not fill all 13 if we sign guys just to get a full class. I'd rather save 2 or 3 for next year, rather than sign guys who are unlikely to see much playing time just to fill the slots.

I didnt even notice USC flipped florida commit Jamel Cook this morning. He's 6'4 195 and a 4*. he can play various positions and is quick enough to play CB. Nice pick up.
