No, you see lots of posts about Oregon and the odd one about USC, which in this case was actually brought up by Mamba who (as he usually does) was trying to stir up the shit and get us off his ass for a few minutes. Nice try though.

It's the off season bro. There will be a few nuggets of information and things worth talking about surrounded by lots of taunting and friendly ribbing and mixed with some of those famous mamba list threads or other stuff meant to keep us occupied until the season starts. You just can't take all of this so darned personally man. We love you like a bro, but we also love picking on your team. It's what college fans do.

:suds:

And Mamba, it won't work. No matter how many times you try to troll us into fighting with USC fans we won't ever forget to involve you as well.

No worries!! It's an internet message board and we've all been posting together on the various incarnations of this thread since cbs. Nothing gets taken personal.

Well considering in my wall of text I said that I think Sark is a great fit and is unlikely win less than 9 games in his tenure at USC due to the talent that school brings in, I'd assume you'd take that as a compliment.

The Lane Kiffin comparisons are ridiculous. Kiffin held that USC team back, Sark won't hold them back, he just won't push them ahead when they play top 5-10 teams. I don't doubt that Sark will win a lot of games for you, but I just have a strong feeling he won't win the games against teams with comparable talent to USC (which luckily for you guys won't be more than 5-10 teams in the country, if that).

All Oregon references aside you guys will probably win a lot of games under Sark and have quite a few top 10 finishes, but I just cannot see him ever winning a national title. Luckily for you guys he will probably have an impressive run, rack up a good number of wins then ditch USC for the NFL before the concerns about his ability to take the next step arise.

TLDR VERSION:
Sark will win 95% of games against non-top 10 opponents, but will really struggle against top 10 opponents.

You may have a point on some of this and we'll have to see how it plays out. Seems to me that under Sark, most of your losses were to teams that were more talented than UW and you did just fine vs. teams of equal or lesser talent.

Once we are back to full rosters and even before, USC will face few, if any, teams that are more talented.

I understand that Sark had been there 5 years and UW fans were expecting 10 win seasons by possibly his 3rd year and definitely by last year. But you have to remember, you are in the same division as 2 programs that have been top 5 programs for most of that time. That makes hitting those 10 win seasons much more difficult. It was like being in the conference during the PC era. Plenty of good talent, good teams, but there was a perennial top 5 team in the way the whole time.

Oh I don't know about that, sometimes the "butthurt" gets a little extreme on here, I mean some fans just take it way to far........:suds:

I don't think that's true. Not for me anyway. We definitely weren't expecting a 10 win season by year 3, and most of us weren't expecting a 10 win season last year--we were hopeful it could be a 10 win year, but not expecting it.

While the whole 7 win thing was starting to get old real quick, it wan't the overall win-loss ratio that really made some of us (me at least) question Sark. It was the way the team he fielded was at times completely undisciplined and uninspired.

Yes most of our losses were to teams that were more talented to UW. Whenever we played teams with more talent we were slaughtered mercilessly. Whenever we played teams of equal talent we didn't look very good either. Playing teams of less talent we looked dominant as hell. This is precisely why I think Sark will do well at USC, but will struggle against teams with comparable talent. Luckily for USC there are not many teams that can bring in more talent and Sark is a good recruiter.

Once we are back to full rosters and even before, USC will face few, if any, teams that are more talented.

Exactly why I think Sark will do well. But I think that when he goes up to teams of equal or better talent, USC will really struggle which will probably begin to irritate the fan base over time.

Our problem with Sark was not only his W/L record but the way he lost. I mean some of the losses under Sark were absolutely humiliating and did not reflect the talent on the roster which was extremely frustrating. When we lost under Sark over the past 4 years, we lost badly.

2013: Lost 3 of 4 games by double digits.
2012: Lost 4 of 6 games by double digits.
2011: Lost 6 of 6 games by double digits.
2010: Lost 5 of 6 games by double digits.
Total: Lost 18 of 22 games by double digits.

It is one thing to lose, but it is another to lose like that.

ok so i have been barely on the last couple days but here is what I got for next year.
Yes worried about Oregon's run D. I posted that on signing day.
oregon misses USC and Az st so I am not worried about them until it is apparent Oregon has to actually play them. why dwell on something that might not happen?
Non Conference- yawn, Michigan State, Yawn. Michigan State may be the game I worry most about for the whole season. but it is in Eugene so that helps.
@WSU little worry some just because it is Oregons first road game and WSU has been improving just a question of by how much.
Arizona I had that one pegged as a let down last year heading in. Oregon didnt seem to have the same motivation anymore and Arizona has a history of upsets late in the season. I dont think this one will go anywhere near the same.
@UCLA another road game and yes worried here as well. It took Oregon everything they had to hold on and pull away.
Washington at home new coach new QB no Sankey no ASJ not worried. Petersen was a good hire but it wont be an instant pay off. and yes Oregon lost to his teams in the past but that was the past, with a different head coach and different players. We also heard how Wilcox defense could stop oregon just because he did it at Boise also. How did that play out?
Cal is cal
Stanford I still believe that a healthy MM makes a world of difference and last years game would have been vastly different had he been.
Utah, Colorado yawn
@Oregon State- its the civil war on the road so yeah

Fair enough. I'm still not sure I'd read too much into that though based on what many of you have said about the state of the program when he took over.

He upgraded the talent and definitely improved your team and if memory serves, part of the reason that some of you were upset that he left was because of a general feeling (which I agree with) that UW was about to turn the corner and start being a threat.

End of the day, I think both programs got coaches that will prove to be excellent fits for each program. Remember, Petersen was interviewed by Pat Haden and they reached the mutual decision that he simply wasn't a good fit for USC. I think he's an ideal fit for UW and will finish what Sark started and maybe exceed what Sark would have if he had stayed.

Sark, on the other hand, seems an ideal fit for USC. He coached here during the heyday under Pete Carroll and is well versed in how things are done at USC. He also knows what the expectations of the alumni and fanbase are, so I don't see much problem with him getting his kids to play inspired football.

Should be an exciting and fun season for both teams. Now we just need for it to hurry up and be August!!:suds:

No, we already told you we were upset at how he left more than the fact that he did leave. Of course we were worried for a minute about whether or not they would find someone at least as good as him. I mean it's better to have a 7-8 win coach than the ones we had between neuheisel and Sark.

Just like the analogy I already gave you, once we found out we could land the fucking model that was good in bad and had no attitude we forgot all about the decent chick that could cook but annoyed the crap out of us. That tells you something about what we think of him compared to our new coach.

To characterize that we were about to get better isn't entirely about Sark. My only point about giving him one more year was about graduating Price. I was willing to give him a chance to show he could do more with a different QB, but I said post after post after post I was tired of his lack of discipline and his inability to get control of the penalties. I said over and over I hated when he went off script and took risks on offense as it always lead to losses. I said over and over he kept dead weight on his staff and favored ineffective players out of some loyalty that left the team less than it could have been. The record is there.

I also said I stood up for Willingham too long as well. I tend to support even those that don't deserve as much as I give because I prefer to keep a forward looking approach.

The fact that I believe Petersen is 4x the coach Sark is, and at least 2x the coach I think Sark will ever be says all you need to know. Is Sark a better fit for your school? Perhaps, but I don't see him suddenly growing out of the things he did that weren't ideal. I see USC as a 10 win team at best, but still think 9 is his ceiling no matter how good his talent is. He will cost you a few games. Don't agree? Well no shit lol.

Well the cougars are beating the Huskies at something anyway, if we had our own conference fulmer cup I think WSU would now be taking the early lead away from UW.

Wazzu WR Gabe Marks arrested, cited for misdemeanor assault - CBSSports.com
Their star WR gets charged with 4 misdemeanor counts.

Now we will see what the Pirate does to unruly players on their squad. Since he is their star WR does he get off with a wrist slap?

Wazzu leads the PAC in the Fulmer Cup most years

There's seemed to be a perception that ASU is the school that has a bunch of thugs doing thug things, and we've certainly had our moments, but I think I hear about the NW school athletes having run ins with the law most frequently. I think we had one thing last year, but it was a guy that was a non-invited, non-scholarship walk on or something.

Oh, and Junior Onyeali got pissed at something his girlfriend did and hit her car or something.

He'll probably get locked in an equipment shed for awhile.

Do you folks really expect that football players will be stellar citizens? Most are just not by their very nature and that is encouraged by the nature of the game. That's why they have rules and penalties to keep them from tearing the other guys head off. Players don't change when they walk on or walk off the field. I wouldn't be surprised at a minor assault charge whether it occurred at Stanford or Wazzu or anywhere else in the PAC. It's expected. You don't either or I wouldn't hear all the "kill him", "stomp him" and "tear off his head off" and worse in every stadium and bar with a TV. That's why a swift kick in the backside should be sufficient punishment IMO.

NN, yes we expect them to make mistakes and plenty of them. Why on earth wouldn't we still use it to taunt each other? I mean it's the off season and going over each teams arrest reports are about all we have until spring ball right?
