So, with OSU showing they can win, the real question becomes, does oregon win a conference game this year?
Man, that's a great question.

I can tell you that prior to this week there was a lot of talk from their fans on twitter asking if the beavs might be their only one. Wonder what their take will be now. Beavs may not have much of a defense, but it's still got to be better than Oregon's.

I know there's the whole question about who their options will be, and what they want to do moving forward, but Helfrich has to be done. Their decline has just been so quick and apparent, you can't let him stick around and sink them deeper. I guess you figure an outsider will start from scratch anyway, but why wait? I do think someone, probably oly, said he has an 11+ million $ buyout, but my understanding is they have a wealthy donor who can help with that kind of stuff.

To be clear, I'm not meaning this in a rubbing in or trolling kind of way, they are genuinely in a tough spot with that one. It'll be interesting to see what they do.

No matter who individually failed to do their jobs leading to the ducks decline the HC is responsible for it. So yeah, he's almost certain to be fired. Colorado lost again and getting beat that badly at home by your rival has to just be the last nail.

They do have talent down there. Cupboards aren't bare. Might be able to reload with the right staff. Well, at least the offense anyway.

Man dude. That might be the worst ass beating I've seen a Pac team take in many years. Can't blame you for getting wasted. Going to be a long rest of the season and into next year.

Screw their bandwagon fans. Talk about 0 loyalty narcissists who should not dictate a schools AD policy.

Honestly, it would be fucking beyond idiotic to fire Helfrich. The PAC12 schools, besides USC recently, tend to be more patient with coaches and I think that's a strength of the culture of the conference, not a weakness.

Oregon likes to model itself as more as a tSEC school when it comes to how they run their AD and policies, than a PAC school these days, but I still think it would be idiotic to fire a coach for a couple of loses after he took you to a playoffs just two years ago.

One of Oregon's strengths was it's coaching tree and the stability it created. The policy of promoting from within. If they fire Helfrich, there is no one there besides Hoke to take over, and that would be a hideous move backwards.

It would set them back years and anyone with half a brain can recognize that. It would blow up their entire coaching staff and that's not something they should do at this point.

Oregon's culture got drunk on success and it's hangover time now. Doesn't mean they can't make it back to the top tier of the PAC. But every program goes through rebuilding phases. But you don't just go around firing coaches with that much history with the program for a couple of loses. Would be a terrible ego move.

McCaffrey officially out of the heisman now. His stock went well down last week, off the map now.

I mean lets face it, it wasn't going to come from anyone in the Pac this year with the hype coming from Watson and Barrett, but no one will be even talking about him after this.

Whole damned conference is so volatile this year. Stanford and Oregon blowing up and every team that looks like it wants to move forward finds a way to move back. USC might be finding itself. Cougs lose to an FCS team and yet now look like they are firing on all cylinders. And now Cal losing to the beavs.

Honestly The only bright spot I saw for the Ducks is Herbert looked 100x better than Prukop has all year and did it in his first start against that Husky D. I've been saying that he should've been the guy for a couple weeks now. Prukop just didn't have the poise to make it in a big 5 conference.

It'll be someone that no other PAC team can afford. A monster was created today.

oh god, give it up....
A monster was created today? Your talking like the Japanese bombed pearl harbor. A monster? Puhleaze.....

The ducks are simply dealing with a rebuild situation. They don't have to blow up the program and start over. And let's get real. Oregon is not a top10 destination for coaches and isn't an ideal situation for many.

Sure they have all the facilities that Phil built, but that doesn't make it some self-sustaining powerhouse. If anything, all that Nike involvement can be their own worst enemy.
Coaches at Oregon have to deal with a ton of gaga and distractions because of the Nike thing. The NCAA investigation also exposed the lengths Oregon had to take to try to become elite.

But the voices are chiming in LOUDLY from every direction. Not that former players have any say, but those voices are for sure reaching those that do.

Disagree with the Helfrich being fired too early. He took them to the playoffs with guys Kelly developed. Exactly who has he developed with all that Nike money? With all the injuries right now it mostly his guys and he doesn't seemed to have developed one guy. It's Freeman and scrubs, maybe Herbert might become something but one guy in his 3 classes says dude belongs in FCS. Least then he'd beat us.

Fuck UW..bitches, we tied for first with a better SOS even with a bye.
