They have been putting the backups in early and often so far this year and they are a mixed bag. I have no real confidence in the cover because of that. I could see them reaching 28+ lead, but not sure they hold it with the kids they trot out there for experience.

Here's to neither side having any serious injuries.

This is one of several games this week that are tough to call against the spread.

Cal looks improved on defense, but this is a road game and I doubt they are as solid of a unit on the road as at home. Younger defenses tend to struggle more on the road.

Cal also has a very young QB that committed a lot of mistakes against USC.

Ducks always have a potent and dangerous offense, but have not been nearly as sharp as they used to be. The mental mistakes have mounted up and those penalties.

Their defense is better than last year, but that's not necessarily saying a lot.

I honestly don't see Cal winning this game, but anything between a 5-20 point win by the ducks wouldn't surprise me. This would be one of the bigger upsets if Cal would pull this off and it would be the type of loss that would set Oregon back quite a bit. Not expecting that at all.

Well, only one of the four has a run defense and there have been questions about Stanford's passing game leaving them prone to being run heavy. Still tough to get that many yards, but I'd fully expect a run heavy set of stats for Stanford this whole season. It's what they do. I mean how can you question what the line is doing in the first place? They obviously still dominate in run blocking.

I'll be curious to see how many total team rushing yards they get in a couple of weeks on the road at Utah. Break 180y as a team in that game and I'll buy into it. I mean even they have already had a bad day of run stopping allowing Zona to go over 200y.

Tackles don't really matter much, if it were their center or one of their guards then it would give us an advantage. $C just needs to run right up the gut, not sweeps or off tackles plays.

That's why I won't buy the love for Love until I see them doing it against Utah. I honestly don't think Stanford is that dynamic on offense right now.

Friend of mine texted me asking if I wanted to go to Corvallis last second for the UW - Oregon State game. Only dilemma is I made dinner plans with a childhood friend of mine tomorrow afternoon who I haven't seen in like 10 years or so and would feel really shitty if I cancelled. But I know I'd have a blast if I went down to Corvallis.

Should I do it?
