Oh good lord. Give me a break. Phil's lost his mind in the hunt for a natty and to pimp the Nike brand. There is no fucking way in hell they aren't pulling a Willie Lyles again. They obviously learned nothing from the last NCAA investigation although I'm sure the money is now arriving from Nike Florida based bagman in cash and not something as traceable as checks from the "books and recruiting materials" fund. Taggart's P5 HC career could be done faster than Kelly at this rate. This isn't the SEC where the NCAA turns a blind eye to all the obvious money being paid out to the parent in charge to get those high 4 and 5 star commits.
Do you know how many coaches Taggart brought with him from Florida? they have great relationships with a lot of the highschools down there right now and are taking advantage of that.

You pulled the race card to justify this. Unreal.
Well I know how you guys are and it seemed more likely that you would believe that over Phil isn't paying kids to come play at Oregon, he never has. a few of these coaches along with taggart himself came from Florida where they had prior relationships with HS coaches and some of these kids. some maybe didn't want to play at SF because it wasn't a power 5 conference. but Oregon is.
Oregon has played in the Playoff and in championship games recently. even with a down season, one down season does not a demise make. Oregon has a lot offer including as Wallace said amazing facilities. and despite your experiences in Eugene it really is a nice place to live. I grew up there and never lacked for things to do.
and yes I brought up race. for some of these kids it matters. seeing a successful black man that they can look up to. one that is still young and can relate to a lot of them and they can relate to him. one that plays video games, listens to music they listen to. you think guys like Saban, Meyer, Helfrich, Kelly, Petersen, Stoops, helton are listening to Lil Yaghty, Kendrick Lamar, French Montana, Yo Gotti, 2 Chains, and Migos?
you think any of those coaches even know more than 1 of those?
also you gotta remember these recruits are 16, 17, 18. all their lives, what they can remember, Oregon has been one of the teams on top. they know they aren't a tradional power because people will always tell them that. but look at the last 10 years, Oregon was 102-30. only a handful of teams will have a better record in that time.

funny coming from a USC fan

Touche. Both your programs have a rich history of buying players and academic shenanigans to get athletically gifted special ed tards and criminals on the rosters so it's completely

time....

Whenever a Trojan and Duck start arguing about pathetically obvious player buying,

You think Marriota went to oregon because what music the coach listened to? You think Alabamas got seven number one recruiting classes because of what music saban listens to or what video games he knows? If there are players who would be swayed by that then you can have them.

Expanding On that . If I'm going to law school then yeah I'd be interested in a firm where the lead attorneys are younger than normal and they seem to promote quick. Or if I'm a young architect and I find a firm where they are mostly younger and doing fun interesting projects. You can picture yourself doing it like they did.But these are players who want to play football not be coaches. You want one that wins and teaches and can get you in the NFL . You dont care as much if he's a crusty old white guy (Belichick type) or black guy (Shaw) a fun guy (Carroll) or a no nonsense type like Petersen. Yeah players liked Carroll but they also liked Orgeron. It was Carrolls winning not just the fun. Saban looks like he's not that fun to play for but he's turned down more talent than most teams have gotten. You might get some players with the shiny uniforms or the fancy locker room or the fact that the coaches playlist has musicians you listen to but winners don't care as much about those things.

Sorry you must have missed the part of about "for some of these kids"
being able to relate to your coaches makes them more comfortable to be around. more approachable. I have worked for my company for almost 14 years and have had 3 CEOs. the one I got along with best was the younger laid back guy who I could go to with issues without feeling like I was in the principals office. the one who if I ran into him in public would grab a beer with you and bs about movies, tv, or sports.
