Yes but, we have all learned in the past, don't ever doubt Shaw and his coaching abilities.....
Remember when Harbaugh and Luck were leaving and everyone thought Stanford was done?

All 14 of Stanford's commits have signed along with 3 preferred walk-ons. Fun to see the kids of guys I went to school with signing with the school.

Stanford is limited on scholarships every 4 years. Next year should be a 20+ class instead of a 15 or less class like this year and 2013.

what's the reason for the change in scholarships every 4 years?

admittedly i know nothing about allocation of scholarships, a 25% drop every 4 years seems odd....

I did say that Stanford had to find production out of the QB and RB slots to be dangerous and those are big ifs. It still feels like they are the biggest threat in the north for UW to repeat in getting a trip to the CCG.

And it still feels like USC vs UCLA for the south with question marks for Utah at QB leaving them just outside looking in.

Colorado is looking strong in recruiting again this year. I think they are ahead of Utah on the dark horse for the South. Though I agree it would have to be USC and UCLA as favorites.

The runaway bride of the 2017 class, WR Jamire Calvin, has committed to WSU today.

But very possible he flips his commit to three more schools within the next week so be prepared.

Maybe strong in recruiting, but they took a few big hits to their program in Sefo graduating, 8 starters off their defense also leaving, and they lost their DC.

Perhaps I put too much into QB, but Montez isn't Sefo and those are big shoes to fill. Add in all those questions with all the talent that left and I just can't put them ahead of Utah on my board.

I wouldn't describe them as a dark horse after they won it last year. Arizona, Arizona st, hell even UCLA would fit the description better.

I know SC won the day in recruiting but you guys lost just as much if not more than Colorado. Utah still doesn't have a QB so their offense will be limited again. I wouldn't be so quick to crown yourself. But then again, I absolutely HATE preseason rankings.

top 5 on 247 and scout. The others need to be updated. Very happy with the class and how helton and the SC staff closed. Filled a lot of needs with elite talent. That defense is going to be nasty. Getting Falo in was a surprise but WTF lmao

That was awesome

I'd be far from crowning SC champs at this point, but I would be surprised to see Colorado as the favorite or even the number 2 in the preseason rankings. With a healthy Josh Rosen, I would expect to see UCLA as 1 or 2 heading into the season, so I wouldn't consider them in the Dark horse category.

With Liufau graduating I don't see Montez as being able to step in and lead the team to another division title. I think they have good coaching and I don't even know if Montez will be the starter next year so who knows. But with a RS sophomore at QB though and not a good end of season, I can't see Colorado being ranked any higher than #3 coming into the season.
