Things that immediately standout. Opening on the road vs south champs Colorado. We got Ore St. early this year. Good place for bye right in middle of schedule.
Last 5 games are a guantlet and we once again get Ducks and Furd back to back. Stanford game looks like it will be the friday espn primetime game. Nice.
Annnnnnnnd our prayers have been answered. Apple cup moves to saturday so not the day after thanksgiving anymore. AMEN!!!!

Yeah, but the other side of that is getting Stanford and Utah late after they both have time to get up to full speed. Those last 5 games or so will be a tough stretch. The saving grace though is 4 of those 5 are at least at home. So there's that.

3 November home games. Somehow I bet the stretch of dry home games will be over by the end of that season. Didn't have any real rain the entire year at home last season. We had a whole lot of early season home games that helped that. Not going to be that lucky this year I'm assuming.

How do you make season predictions on a team in transition when you don't know a thing about what type of offense they will run, or half of the personnel changes that are likely coming?

Oregon is a complete wildcard.

I think both are at fault. Not sure who I would blame more.

There should have been mandatory breaks. I remember "old school football two a days" and even back then, when guys would run off the field to puke and were expected to get right back to running drills (if you puked on the field, you had to run more), we had mandatory water breaks.

On the other hand, players have to be responsible for themselves and each other to a point. These guys have to know to take breaks and/or seek help if they aren't feeling right. There are some things a coach can't be expected to see.

Let me also add while calling them kids that no staff should assume what they were taught in high school about training and conditioning. They should assume they have incomplete, or even wrong information coming up to that level. To put the knowledge entirely on the kids to know better seems a bit off base IMO. They are at a school of higher learning. Coaches at that level call themselves teachers. So too are the training staff. This is where they learn how to best build and care for their bodies as world class athletes. They don't come to college with that knowledge already. At least most of them don't.

This is a very competitive sport. Competing against the guy next to you for reps is a big part of it. Pushing each other to get better to win for each other is part of it. Left to their own decisions these kids will make the wrong one quite often. That's why you have a staff to work with them, guide them, and support them.

based on personnel that we do know is coming back like Herbert, Freeman, Brooks James, Nelson, Carrington and the kind of fast offense ran at USF under Taggart.
Def is the wild card for Oregon
I think Oregon should win against south Utah no matter what
Nebraska was close last year minus some Oregon mistakes like going for 2 over and over as well as game at home and Neb having a new QB
Wyoming actually could be tough, they were solid last season
Oregon somehow beat ASU without much trouble last year
Cal was another close game and now are transitioning as well and a new QB.
that's why I say Oregon could open 5-0 not that they will
the next 5 I think are still in better shape than Oregon even Utah who Oregon upset last year.
Arizona and Oregon State are winnable.

Cause you both play ND usually during regular PAC conf time frame and you have to work around the added complexity of that when creating a schedule. Don't like it? Dump ND.

Military style workouts doesn't mean they were military work outs.

I wanna know who survived and who didn't…separate the men from the boys so to speak. A trip to the hospital for fluids is routine and meant to be administered in the field of battle if need be. That's why the NFL has tents on the sidelines for such unsightly scenes.
