I looked it up. Hitchcock and Russ Davis.

I remember Russ Davis being very solid at 3B in the 2 years I watched him play (96/97). He wasn't great offensively though I remember he had 1 good season hitting. I liked watching him play.

It's weird thinking back because 97 is when I joined the USMC and didn't see an M's game for 4 years.
Yes we asked for Pettitte and Posada I believe was offered and they so said no to Andy and we said no to Posada if I remember right. Sorrento replaced Tino and hit 23 homers and 93 RBI's.

Your last one was before my time. I put the Cruz and Varitek trade behind the Tino trade because both of those two bad trades were trading for Jeff Nelson. My memory is fuzzy and I don’t recall the guys they dealt in the two trades to replace Tino
The Tino trade was a pisser-offer because is age, talent and fact they never offered him a deal per him. He said he would have taken less to stay. It never made sense as a fan but M's leadership could never pass up on a stud Yankees prospect.

We signed Sorrento as a free agent. Then a couple years later we signed Segui as a free agent.

I guess I would put the Tino trade as the worst of the three as well. Varitek number two and Cruz third. The Cruz trade was dumb because we never had a solid LF'er and Cruz gave us hope. He was young and cheap and the players seemed to like him. Plus you should be able to get bullpen anywhere. Nobody trades top prospects for two damn relievers.

I meant trades for Tino’s replacement. They traded for Sorrento and Segui but can’t recall who they dealt.

Oh my bad, I thought they traded for both of those guys.

I’m not saying Varitek/Lowe and Cruz weren’t horrible trades and in a vacuum. Just IMO both of those trades are linked to the Tino and Nelson trade. Both of those trades IMO were just trying to find a new Nelson which is why I put it first.

Bedard for Jones was bad, but Shin Soo Choo was a really bad one and I can’t recall the other one. The M’s gave up a SS I think to Cleveland who went on to be productive. That whole Ichiro diva era really screwed the franchise

I see. I'm sure somebody else brought it up, but they signed Sorrento as a FA.

To say a win or two against the Padres is impressive is an understatement.

To say we actually SWEPT them...that's a jaw dropper. Let's be honest: Pads aren't exactly pushovers this year.

Frankly, I don't know which was more impressive: what we did in SD, or what the Angels did to the Dodgers.

Probably what the Angels did since the Angels are way worse than us and the Dodgers are better than the Padres.
