It was a terrible call. You have to have game awareness. You have to know who you are playing.

In that game we should have been playing for field position, not giving Stanford a short field TWICE.

It's cool though, we are done with Stanford, thankfully.

I don't really disagree, but at the same time you have to try something when you've netted 150 yards of total offense into the 4th quarter...

meh. Our D and special teams is what I would have tried. Either one could have won that game given more opportunities. Pin Furd deep and let the D at them.

Offense wasn't working and it wasn't going to miraculously start to. I give the opportunities to those who are busting ass over those who are getting dominated.

I see the reasoning, just don't agree with it. Not going to harp on coach Pete too much about it. He's owned up to it and gave his explanation.

In the end we played Furd to the wire without an O.

I watched this whole game to see CP pull one of his BSU gadget plays in the right situation. Not to criticize or second-guess the coach, but I expected something more than a kick on fourth down with only two minutes to play. I sure thought it worth a gamble with two minutes on the clock the game on the line. I saw a successful statute-of-liberty or some such (BSU v. OU type), followed by a touchdown drive and another gadget for two points and the game in Boise State fashion!!! Disappointed. But then I realized: he's saving it all for the Ducks.

Not reallty sure what you're saying.

The play in question came in the middle of the 4th quarter. Not with 2mins left.

Washingdtons last drive started after the 2min warning. Of course I didnt expect a punt at that point...

Actually kind of happy the Twins are not a playoff team this year.

Don't know if my body could handle another meaningful game this Thursday.

I love how everyone thinks Boise just ran trick plays all the time in every game just because they ran a couple in the biggest game in school history and maybe 1 other every season. It wasnt a regular thing.

The whole "this isn't the WAC/Mountain West" argument is what pisses me off about the whole thing. Stanford can be caught off guard like any other team. Every FBS coach has some kind of fake punt in their playbook, and every FBS coach has made a questionable/regrettable call in a desperate situation.

The fake punt was a bad call, that's really easy to say now. But I don't think it was completely insane with no justification. If we want to talk about a "what were they thinking" moment, let's focus on the decision to have Stanford rekick...

lol... now see this one I can see more than the fake punt. Didn't agree with it either, but he was trying to give the special teams a shot.

Funny that he didn't trust the o to take it at the 35 but trusts them to execute a fake play against a team he hadn't fooled all day.

I know what he was thinking on all the goofy calls, and I disagree with them all. Which is why I put this loss squarely on the coaches.

As far as Stanford being potentially caught off guard like anyone else. I disagree. Hadn't fooled them all day long and we werent about to in the 4th.

Game awareness. Have it.

I posted this on our team board. I'm okay with the fake punt call, it just didn't work. If it did it could have been the best call of the day. The rekick instead of taking the ball at the 35 was a real head scratcher though... Both calls came from having zero faith in the offense.

I agree, that Re-kick was a real bone head call. I liked the fake as well college football is made for that stuff.
